Default Guild Airships opinions so far?

I really don't like the idea of temporary slotting. Why is everything only temporary? A lot of it seems like it's more trouble than it's worth. I haven't tried it out so I could very well be wrong, but from what I've read, I'm thinking I'll be disappointed.

Was anyone able to actually get renown high enough on Lamannia to get one? Does it work well?

The topic would suggest that you are talking about airships yet the text below is about augments.

No guild on Lamannia has reached the level required for an airship but we have reached the needed level for guild augmentation crystals. I did a short overview of it here:

No, not talking about augments. Talking about slotting.

For instance, if you get the guild large chest, it lasts for like, a month then you have to get it again. Some things last 7-10 days (For instance the crafting alters), then you have to get it again. Unless I'm reading something wrong and there's a way to get things permanently.

I bet the permanent ones will be DDO Store only.

My thought on the matter is that they are doing their level best to make guild airships the biggest plat sink this game has ever seen. The fact that each add-on is time limited and that each plat purchase has a mere 3 day initial time and only adds 7 days at a time for each additional purchase for a max duration of 1 month... and that this upkeep is for each and every add-on.

It just screams plat sink. Same with the guild augments. Either you use them and that nice big pile of plat you have starts to dwindle, or you hang onto your plat and do without.

Unhappy Its all about the $$$

This is more of a way for Turbine to make yet more money by making something that seems like it shud eather free or last longer, last for such a short time that with in game $$ it last for shuch a short amount of time that you are forced to buy it with with TP for it to be any use. I understand they need to make money but this is stupid this update is making being in a guild expensive the only thing i can see this leading to is guild dues so that thay will be able to pay for the things that the guilds need, such as a guild chest, something that IMHO shud be implamented in the game alredy.

Maybe the idea was to make it time limited to avoid everybody creating a new guild just to get that extra place to store things. Dunno. But beside of that, what happens to the items IN that chest if the time runs out???

Guildy1: I put you the Vorpal in the Guild Chest
Guildy2: **** it, I forgot to pay the duration, now its gone...
    * We have collectable bags, mind you, even hireling folders, but can I have that 6-pack for my potions please?
    * Having already a past life on the dieng EU servers, I rerolled here and started from scratch as I like the game and the community, so lets see what awaits me here

I ready dont see the problem in that as you will need to have a guild of mules that quest all the time for that to be of use as the Guild Chests are on the airships only so the likely of that happening if very slim at best

    Two words;

    Plat Sink.

BTW, this is nothing new for any game with player housing. Upkeep, maintenance, both are part of owning one.

They hang out in the extradimensional void of bankspace until someone creates a new guild chest that opens to that pocket dimension. So all Guildy2 needs to do is put another chest down.

Yes OP, looked like a lotta hassle for something that doesn't last.

May be another mediocre, badly implemented addition to the game.

But then again I'm not really one for Internet peen-waving so it was never going to/meant to appeal to the likes of me.

Thanks for pointing that out Eladrin!

Btw. any chance (plans) we can get a boost on the Guild Levels on Lama land to be able to test the Higher level stuff out? (especialy things like the Test Dummy, or how they look from inside and so on)

See following link and read rule 12, and since you prolly won't click following link, I'll copy/past rule 12 BEFORE the link!

It depends how much the cost is, if ton pp for it this bad bad. If the cost is small more about keeping your guild rank up then anything do not mind. Because remeber guild rank decays.

My question, the items with guild augment slots, are these random drops?

It's just a similar mechanic of house rent in all other online games; at least they put a chest in it, so basically they're letting you buy your guild house; in LOTRO, you can purchase up to 3 chests for your house and pay rent each week on the guild house or regular house with 1 or 2 chests. So I'm guessing they're letting us buy airships outright and just pay rent on everything in them? My only question is what happens to items in chests after rent lapses-does it just lock you out of it or go to an temporary escrow account where you have to talk to a guy to pick it all up again like on LOTRO when you abandon a house? I'm not worried about the huge plat sink, that's expected in online games for large perks like this. Guild also shouldn't have to worry about making enough money to pay the upkeep; it's not like they're broke.

I like it if it works as a plat sink, as long as in store stuff isn't permanent.

It's a nice feature regardless, just seems like it might be tough to keep up with.

Funny how this has played out:
People started crying for guild housing options, and now that they are in place, people begin crying about it.

I personally hate guild housing as usually all it entails is sinking currency into playing Barbie`s Dream House decorating your space and then upkeeping it. Although I don`t play on Lamannia, it sounds like it works the same as every other housing system, although at least it offers some convenience.

I don`t know what people are whining about as it isn`t surprising how it has been done.
