Saving account prior to reinstalling OS

I have characters that I don't want to lose, but need to reinstall my XP, as it has pooched my internet, sound and video card access. How do I go about doing this?

The characters are saved/stored by Turbine. As long as you know your username and password (and server), you can log in and play the same characters on any computer with DDO installed.
