The exact same thing just happened to me. I logged out 20 minutes ago to do household stuff, and when I just logged in, it said I was a free account, and I had to select 2 characters as my Actives. The funny thing is, my account details are accurate and still show my history of purchasing TP.
EDIT: I submitted a ticket (http://www.ddo.com/ddosupport) so I suppose all I can do now is play the waiting game.

Same here... I just checked my account settings to see what was up. It seems they changed my original account that I had way back before DDO launched originally to my Premium account and downgraded the EU account to free. When I log into the EU account, I still have my purchased points there, but it two of my chars are locked out.
This issue should now be resolved, and we do apologize to anyone who experienced this issue. If you previously had Premium access, as far as character slots, etc, you should again have that access.
Please note, there is a 45 day limit on in-game customer support for Premium subscriptions, after a purchase. However, the other Premium benefits should no longer expire.

My account has been stuck like this since the 27th. I'm sure it will be solved eventually but the little things that are restricted on free are really getting to be annoying
The issue in September of 2009 was resolved.
A similar issue has occurred now, and we are working to fix it. For updates, please see the front page of the forums.
