i havent searched for this, so i dont know if its already been brough up or not, but its something the devs could think about.
to be honest i saw this in another game, but it seemed to work there. make each server have a number of sub-servers
eg: Cannith, realms 1-8, or some such depending on the current population of the server it would be different. characters would be for the whole server, but players would have to choose what realm to join also.
in effect its adding more servers, but its reducing the number of people in each instance for each realm, instead of having however many hundreds of people running each quest at the same time, causing rediculous amounts of lag. some problems however would be with guilds. you log in, choose your realm, ****, no-one from your guild is on this realm

. they could make a mechanism for it to tell us when our guildies are online and change the guild tab to tell us which realm they're on.
anyone with suggestions on how to make this more effective can post whatever they would like to see if they did something like this
i look forward to any and all responses
