Default Glittering Dust - am I missing something?

Glittering Dust is a common collectible -- you turn in 3 and get a level 2 scroll. AFAIK, it is not used in any rituals. My main toon is a ranger, so Glittering Dust is essentially useless to me. At some point I noiticed 11 GD's in my bag, and put them on AH. Don't remember what possessed me to set buyout at 8,000 gp -- maybe I accidentally typed an extra zero. To my astonishment, it was bought out. Some time later I put 12 GD's on AH, and it only brought 840 gp -- which is actually reasonable for what one expects to turn in for 4 scrolls. Last week I again put 11 or 12 GD's with 8,000 gp -- and got it.

Not that I am complaining, but why on Eberron would anyone pay 800 plat for what is basically four random Lvl 2 scrolls? Does Glittering Dust have some other use I do not know of? Or is it simply wizards 3-4 desperate to grab every scroll for their spellbooks as fast as possible?

Glittering dust indeed is not used in any enchanting rituals so I guess the person who bought it either mixed it up with the other two dusts (Sparkling and Luminescent) that are used for Force Damage and Critical rituals.

Or the person just had too much plat and decided to clean up the AH lists

Yeah! Cannith Crafting is finding new ways to be the best plat sink ever! Think about it, a once worthless collectible is now viable AH fodder! Thats 30% of whatever you pay gone instantly!

Not counting the plat to list it.
