As i sit at my last day of work, i wonder if i will be able to come back to it. In 4 days I start radiation theropy for cancer. I say this not for sympathy, but in celebration of 2+ years of gaming with you guys. I started ddo back up, and less then 2 days later I was diagnosed with the cancer. Playing with everyone has helped keep my spirits up and my mind off things.
Somethings I have learned over the time:
1) Cancer doesnt mean all humor is gone. Laugh at everything.
2) Dont be afraid to talk about it, but dont dwell on the fact you have cancer.
3) Be healthy. It helps with everything.
4) If you think something might be wrong, have it checked out. If I had waited 2 more weeks according to the doctor, he gave me a 5% chance of making it.
5) Never ever give up!! When I was diagnosed, there was roughly a 50/50 shot I would make it. I did everything the docs said, and with the radiation, it is almost a sure thing im gonna make it.
6) Talk to people. Cancer is serious, and can mess with your head as well.
7) It puts gaming in a whole new light. I can count the times I actually get po'd in game on one hand.
So as I head to the hospital, I just want to thank the DDO community as a whole for helping me get through this. You guys are great.
Cheers,
Wes AKA Hob
