Default Feature Request:"Put Up For Roll"

I would like to propose an option for items in a chest. In addition to the list of players in the assignment pulldown add an option for "Put up for roll." Once an item has been "Put up for roll" a party wide notification goes out via party chat and all members have 30 seconds to click on the item in the chest, which auto-generates a roll. Who ever wins the roll automatically gets the item re-assigned to them.

    2 "optional" additions...

    1) A variant (check box or whatever) that would allow you to put an item up for roll only for appropriate classes. That could, of course, get very sticky.
    2) Make items re-assigned via the roll mech in the chest unable to be re-assigned. To try to cut down on friends rolling for the sake of re-assigning to their buddy in group.

Really the issues I see here are 30 seconds is not long enough for new players or less loot savvy players to decide if they really want an item or not. Particularly if a bunch of players put something up for roll at once.

Also, it sounds like spam central for junk items. Would need a UI setting to turn off loot roll notifications for non-bound loot.

Alter those two things and sounds good.

Not a terrible idea, but what if one of the people who wants to roll has become separated from the group? Not everyone completes a quest as one solid group, some people like to split into teams.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Why over complicate it? Seems that putting stuff up for a roll now is fairly straightforward and easily done.

I like this idea. Especially with option 2 being on by default.

It'd be much quicker, particularly in ToD part 2, where there's usually 10-12 items up for roll and only 2-6 people want any of them at all.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Good Idea but I don't think 1 or 2 would work.

Should work more like other mmo loot systems that have it right:
Rightlick item - Allow greed/need roll
Green/Need/Pass window appears on everyones screen (well everyone in the group, in the correct instance with you - so people too far away from the chest at hte moment get there fair shot)
Click on need if you need it, greed if you want it to sell, pass if not.
If any need rolls are made, the need wins, even if green outrolled it.
If no needs are made, but a gree is, the highest greed wins.
If all pass, it doesn't move.

    1) Too much work and too messy, Turbine would need to decide what class is appropriate for every item,.. No.
    2) What if soemone accidently need's an item they don't need and wins? Locked in? ewww.

    Better option:
Checkbox - Confirm winner. If selected, after the winner is determiend by the system, it is displayed on your sceen in a box saying "XXX has won the XXX item - Reassign it to them?" "Yes/No" If by your descretion the winner should not a rolled, you can select no.

This system would prevent the "oops clicked the wrong name in reassingning items"
and also somewhat prevent the "oh sorry I reallly didnt understand what we wre rolling for and didnt want it so badly (as they would potentially greed roll instead of need)

It could also be put into place for scroll drops from monsters. So the system wouldn't need a revamp.. Just as soon as the first person picks up teh scroll, the box automatically comes up, with a ~90 second timeout (timeout = if no option selected, auto pass on item)
Tho I think the party leader should be able to opt-out of this system and set scrolls to leader-only at his descetion. (and party member would be able to easily determine the current loot mode, but not modify it)

nice suggestion, also i'd like to see the "anybody" option to allow anyone who'd want it to loot it.
Under the "allocate" part the last option listed under all the people who can loot it would be "anybody".

Also a UI setting to set all stuff left in chest for 'anybody' after 1 minute of leaving the chest would be nice too.
Bind on acquire or equip stuff would be except from this auto "anybody" option.

So that way we can just leave arrows, bolts , scrolls and spell components for somebody else who may have use for them to get them.
