Default What else do you play?

I first got addicted to online gaming years back before on Elephant MUD.

What is a MUD (Multi User Dungeons) you ask?

Basically a text based game that you can play on telnet. This was before WoW and
MMORPGs got really big. It is a great place to just kick back and relax and one of the
best MUDs out there in my opinion.

I know a lot of people are D&D fans and so am I but just wanted to know what more or
less wierd games you played before or still.

I played on Renegades Outpost in the late eighties/early 90s. It was the last MMO I played before this as well. I actively avoided anything MMO-ish as a means to keep my wife and kids.

Apparently I don't care about my wife and kids anymore...

"You mean there are Games OTHER than DDO!?"

    J/K:

    Someone had to say it...

Only thing close I did to a MUD persay
    before DDO was Neverwinter Nights...

I Played a little Ultima online too.
    But that was about it...

DDO was my first real "Leap of Faith."

Was not overly impressed with "WoW" or "Evercrack"

I tend to only play one game at a time. Been playing DDO since december of last year. About 2 years of Left4Dead before that and 2 years of Guild Wars before that. I dont see myself making it to 2 years of DDO, however.

Slow going on the gaming front right now:

ME2 (hawtness, except for the scanning thing)
Dragons Age (good, but I'm getting fantasy burn out)
Tried STO for about a week (snoozefest, though I liked the ship combat)
Thought about re-upping LotRO (But... nah. More elves, dwarves and orcs. Fantasy burn out, like I said.)

Mostly I'm just biding my time waiting patiently for SW:OR when I will once again become an obsessive Cheetos and Dr. Pepper gamer and take all my vacation days for launch week.
    Meh

The only other MMO I've played for long is City of Heroes and I still pop on there now and then (I'm about to get or just got my 6 year badge so it's hard to let go even though I'm not that interested right now). I tried LOTRO but didn't get into it. I tried DDO a couple of years ago but the lagginess and general difficulty with forming and coordinating groups made me quit. The F2P offer got me to try it again and I've become a paying customer but I don't know if I'll stick with it as long as CoH.

Other than that I played one of the text based zombie apocalypse games for a while (I forget the name) and I've played Kingdom of Loathing a few times but I tend to get bored with it because it feels very repetitious and it's not always clear if it is repetitious because that just the way it is or if it is repetitious because you are doing the wrong thing.

In terms of non-MMOs, I like the various Civilization games, Age of Empires, Starcraft, Fallout and I thought that the Temple of Elemental Evil game was a great concept for a game but it was too short.

I started out playing on Total Entertainment Network (TEN) where I played Magic the gathering online, Duke Nukem and just chatted and socialized with others who did such, it was nice to play with other adults especially women my age who were into online gaming back then was sad when they became pogo Tried Pogo for a few months wasnt my cup of tea left with like a million tokens under my name. Drifted about playing pc games my ex rigged a system that played old dos games so I got to play a lot of those with him. My favorite of them was Heroes of Might and Magic and another interplay game Dungeon keeper I believe it was called or Dungeon runner been a few years I just know it was a fun adventure game with funny gnomes in it.

He then got me into the baldur's gate series (which I still play with upgraded mods from the pocket plane universe) and a friend of his created a mud called Dragons Era. I played that for years before personal stuff a split from my ex drove me away. I went on to play a few dragon ball z based muds and Aardwolf before I finally decided to install ddo. Brought the game a few years back didnt touch it till late 07.

When im not playing ddo im playing one of my old pc games (hehe im a kings quest fan as well been playing that on an older system). I have my nintendo ds light, a wii, a playstation 2 so I never run out of gaming outlets. Currently still got to finish a second run of Spirit tracks to get all the stuff I missed the first time, didnt beat all the gyms in Pokemon Platinum (lol yes im admitting it) and really should break out the wii and get some fitness training in but meh too sore most days for it

    I play, on occasion:
    LotRO
    League of Legends
    Wizard101

And then I do quite a bit of tabletop D&D over the internet.

And I've played MUDS before, they were fun at the time, even though I was very asocial.

    Default taking break from DDO

i have been playing Medieval II: Total War & online poker trying to tighten up my game

i started playing DDO in September 2006 and i have not logged in since early April this year

the addiction is almost broken but i have been checking out the forums about once a week lately and my subscription is still active

my biggest problem was that i was spending about $40 to 50 per month on the game with Turbine Points which was getting a little bit expensive

i might play again but i doubt it because the end-game is a huge grind IMO

    later

If im not playing ddo im usually playing my ps3.I think last winter i beat like 15 games for it.I was playing Demon's Souls for a while but this game is pretty intense and very time consuming.I recomend it to anyone looking for a serious challenge.Dragon age was fun,as well as darksiders,unchrated1,2,Assasins creed 1-2,Dantes inferno, god of war 3 ,There was so many good games released last winter its hard to keep track.Ive tried conan when it comes to mmos but the grouping seems pretty bad in that game so i got bored with it quick. The pvp aspect was fun though.
