    Cool FVS's Being Prepared

    A friend of mine kept asking me about spell choices for his newly rolled FVS.
    I compiled a list of the spells/scrolls I have found to be most usefull.
    I hope this helps.

    Spell Choices:
    Level 1 Remove Fear, Cure Light Wounds, Command, Night Sheild
    Level 2 Cure Moderate Wounds, Lesser Restoration, Aid, Hold Person
    Level 3 Cure Serious Wounds, Remove Curse, Protection from Energy, Mass Aid
    Level 4 Freedom of Movement, Restoration, Neutralize Poison, Cure Critical Wounds
    Level 5 Break Enchantment, Greater Command, Raise Dead, Slay Living
    Level 6 Heal, Blade Barrier, Cometfall
    Level 7 Destruction, Mass Protections from Elements, Resurection
    Level 8 Death Pact, Mass Death Ward, Mass Cure Critical
    Level 9 Implosion, Energy Drain, Mass Heal

    I also reccommend to have stacks(100) of these scrolls:
    Greater Restoration
    Raise Dead
    Heal
    Mass Spell Resistence
    Greater Dispell Magic
    Heroes Feast

    I am sure I have missed a few things, But for those of you who are tired of asking..I hope this helps!
    Dravun , Yocoba, Daivik, and so many more.

    IMO, having cure spells after you get heal is redundant and a waste of spell slots on a fvs. You only have 1 mass cure spell and it won't be affected by pot 6, so one will have to rely on ardor 8 clicky charges.

    You have raise dead and Resurrection, which is a waste...you can alternate between resurrection and scrolls.

    You have no resist energy, which is a very powerful spell to not use.

    Just my input regarding the spell selection.

    Edit: another very powerful spell you are missing is Spell Resistance, It is simply not the same when cast off of a scroll.

    My FvS is more melee/healing based, here's the setup i've gone with. a couple of them are more "couldnt think of anything else vaguely handy" or "i never have the cash for a ton of scrolls and dumped wis so no point in anything that needs a save" than general use though

    1 = Nightshield - Remove Fear - Divine Favour - Obscuring Mist
    2 = Resist Energy - Lesser Restoration - Bulls Strength - Lesser Restoration
    3 = Mass Aid - Mass prot. from Evil - Prayer - Dispel Magic - Searing Light (from capstone)
    4 = FoM - Recitation - Cure Critical Wounds - Divine Power
    5 = Stalwart Pact - Raise Dead - Spell Resistance - True Seeing
    6 = Heal - Blade Barrier - Mass CMW
    7 = Summon Monster 7 - Greater Restoration - Mass Prot from Elements
    8 = Mass Death Ward - Summon Monster 8 - Mass CCW
    9 = Mass Heal - True Resurrection - Implosion

    Once i get enough cash together to keep hold of it for more than a few mins i'll probably swap out implosion for energy drain though.
    I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

    It's also simply not very powerful.

    Think about what spells get cast on you that:
    a) Actually check against spell resistance (eliminating all damage spells)
    and
    b) You cannot be simply immune to (eliminating instant death effects, poison, disease, fear, command, hold)
    and
    c) Isn't easily removed with a super cheap lesser restore pot or lowest grade mnemonic pot (eliminating feeblemind, ray of enfeeblement, exhaustion, and other)
    and
    d) Aren't cast by CR 35 monsters who will -TRIVIALLY- bypass even maxxed out spell resistance (ie: Anything in epic, or only usually cast by epic monsters, which eliminates any Dancing effects)

    What's left that monsters actually use on you? Totally not worth a spell slot.

    I wouldn't keep it forever, but I'm 100% in love with Soundburst as a second level spell.

    Leveling up is already easy on a Cleric (I'm currently leveling up my first FvS, but I'm guessing it will be similar). Soundburst makes it just freakishly easy to get through many lower level quests. I particularly like having Command and Soundburst because they each have a different saving throw.

    I believe this thread is for endgame thrad choices, although I agee that that command and soundburst are very useful while leveling. Command especially, since ogres/trolls critical triple hit is one of the few sources of instant death at low levels.

    Soundburst is still a very effective spell at high level from what i found.Not on epic content or some hard and elite so much but still effective.Also would have to agree taking lvl 7 and higher cure spells does not seem worth it to me.Ive always gotten by with cure mass light,mod,and mass heal mostly.Even on my cleric who has to take the spells.In fact i dont even think i have anything higher then lvl 6 cure spells on my hot bar besides mass heal.

    I also like mass spell resistance as a buff .As also would have to agree that only one raise dead spell is necessary with some res scrolls.

    * edit-reading through the spell list again alot of your spells could be replaced with scrolls and/or wands.Which is very smart to do as a fvs.Just my two cp.
    **edit - No resist energy :O Interesting

    Good point on resist energy. I would replace the 2nd level spell Aid with resist energy,once you take 3rd level Mass Aid.

    Soundburst is an amazing spell when leveling up, but around the time you get Greater Command, it pretty much ceases to be useful.

    My spells (I'm really not a big fan of scrolls. I don't like the inventory space they use, I don't like running out of them and having to restock, and I don't like how easy they are for the casting to be interrupted):

    1: Divine Favor, Nightshield, Remove Fear, Protection From Evil.
    2: Aid, Cure Moderate*, Deific Vengeance*, Resist Energy.
    3: Cure Serious, Magic Circle Against Evil, Prayer, Remove Curse.
    4: Divine Power, Freedom Of Movement, Holy Smite, Recitation.
    5: Break Enchantment, Greater Command, Protection From Elements, Raise Dead*
    6: Blade Barrier, Heal, Mass Cure Moderate
    7: Destruction, Mass Protection From Elements, Greater Restoration
    8: Mass Cure Critical, Monster Summoning VIII, Mass Death Ward
    9: Mass Heal, Implosion, True Ressurection

    *- Indicates spells that I simply no longer use at all, and haven't ever found another spell that seemed worth the bother to replace it.
