Default Where are the staffs/rods and why can't I craft them?

Where are all the magic items like rods and staffs. I know we have wands for spells of 4th level and below but what about a staff for the higher levels. The closest thing I have seen to a working staff (like in DMG) is the one that you can pick up in the shroud off of the dead wizard's body. That lets you cast fireball 50 times (like it helps) be still it has the ability to act simular to a high level wand.

Also the rods, where are the metamagic rods? I could see why silent spell or still spell wouldn't effect anything but their is also ones that use empower, enlarge, extend, etc.

The other thing that I would like to ask is why can't we craft anything besides weapons? Why can't we make our own scrolls, wand, and staffs? I think if we could craft them, it would add a greatly needed use for the mostly useless collectables that we have sitting in our banks and bags now.

Agains just my thoughts so don't feel the need to personally bash me.

You need to take the proper item crafting feat before you can craft an item. Also, wizards no longer get Scribe Scroll for free.

Yes, but if you wanted to get techical you would need to get the Craft Magic Weapon and Armor feat if you wanted to craft armor and weapons. My question is more where is any of this in the game?

I think I recall someplace that a more extensive crafting system is being done. And honesly it would be in the creaters interest cause it keeps players playing as they get caught up in crafting. Also it would give us things to do while we wait for something to pop up in the LFG (looking for group), as we all know one can wait ages for something. Ofcourse it means resources and such would need be added all over the worlds dungeons and wild areas. And ofcourse bank space would need to be doubled as need storage for crafting items (its way to small as it is sadly). But I think DDO could benifit hugely if it was implimented. I know my characters would all take crafting, and I would game more.
In other games i think me and my friends spent more time crafting and looking for mats ... One reason I play and love LOTRO is its extensive and interesting crafting system. It was fun and allowed a player to do more in his gaming time.
