    Default Favorite Kung fu movie?

So this is a simple question. I love old school Kung fu movies but sometimes I think I may be missing out on some good ones. So what are your favorite kung fu movies? This is not a question of what is the best one, but just your favorite.

My favorite is Snake and Crane: Arts of Shaolin starring Jackie (or Jacky as they show in the credits) Chan.

I don't know how old school it is and it definately is painful to watch now but when it came out I liked American Ninja.

I really liked Ong-Bak, you should check that out if you haven't already - the sequel/prequel or whatever it was was alright, but not as good as i remember the original being.

For something different, check out District B-13, it's a neat parkour martial arts mix of a movie that Luc Besson produced and i believe co-wrote. (I assume you don't mind subtitles )

I have seen Ong-Bak, I loved everything about that movie besides that idiot who fought by just throwing things at you.

Oh, and I almost forgot The Killer Meteors. That was the movie where Jackie Chan was the bad guy.

I am thinking I need to check out this 5 venom movie...

What he said. Saw this as a kid and never looked back.

A bit off topic, (not much but not Kung Fu) have you seen the Lone Wolf and Cub films?

They are about a Samurai father and son that hire themselves out as assassins. The dad pushes his son around the Japanese countryside in a wooden cart and...

Well, look em up. I don't want to spoil things with spoilers.

If you like old school Kung Fu flicks, you might enjoy these. A bit over the top with the fountaining blood from wounds, but all in all very addictive.

    Cool thread.

    Kung Fu Panda!

Ya ya, kids make me watch a ton of movies with them.. haven't seen a good Kung Fu flick in awhile.

Think the last live action one I saw was Kung Fu Hustle, but that's more corny than anything.

Five Deadly Venoms is awesome. I also love Drunken Master. Return of The Ninja with Sho Kosugi was one of my all time favorites as a kid. Totally made me want to be a ninja when I grew up.

Not really kung-fu, but the black/white film "7 Samurai" is fantastic too. If you've never seen a Kurosawa film- I suggest you check them out. Netflix has several of them on instant play.
    Have a nice day!

My favorite was call "White Condor", made in the early '70s in Hong Kong. It was easy to tell who the White Condor was, as he got the white ninja costume and everyone else got the black ones. Heh, did a quick Google on it, and I don't see it, so this will go under obscura.

The Legend of Drunken master is by far my favorite. I have fond memories of making this a drinking game in college!

I went and bought ong bak and ong bak 2 on blue ray and i must say that these were some of the worst movies ive ever seen.Tony jaa is amazing and the action scenes could be impressive but the actual plots, dialouge, and acting i found to be pretty horrible.Over all i own these movies and will never watch them again.Im also not a die hard kung fu fan but i do like crazy martial arts scenes but these movies lacked so much substance i just laughed most of the time.just my opinion of course.

Many of Jackie Chan's older films like Drunken Master and Snake and Crane are phenomenal. If you are liking other old school kung fu check out the Shaw Brothers films. 36 Chambers of Shaolin, Return to the 36 Chambers of Shaolin, Mantis kung fu (not sure if that is the name), and many more great Shaw Bro's films.

Korean period peices are also really good and just watched Resilance (I think that is the english title) that had great wire fu and martial sequences and fights. Over the last 2 years I have seen many great martial arts films come out of Korea and haven now begun watching some Malyasian films which are simply fantasic as well. The Malayasian films are really gaining popularity due to films like On Bak and Ong Bak 2, if you want a couple of recommends send me a PM and I wll check what I have on my PC for Malayasian films to recommend.
