Hey OTC, yeah you know me! (Always wanted to say that)

I'm trying to decide what to do about an Australia trip. We're stopping at Mackay for the night -- probably Dolphins Head Resort and then continuing on to Proserpine to spend 3-4 days at the Whitsunday Isles, Beaches, etc.

Question: What should/should not we do for those who have been around the Great Barrier Reef (specifically Whitsunday/Proserpine and to a lesser extent, Mackay)?

Second Question for anyone who has seen this movie: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the other half wants me to take her to see it next week. Is it worth the pain in english? Did anyone enjoy it? Is the book so much better that the movie is an absolute let-down?
