    Default Can't sneak attack unarmed?

I just started a Monk/rogue and took my first level of monk and tried to sneak attack some mobs and none of them triggered the actual sneak attack (I am not attacking undeads and monsters are unaware of me, I was sneak attacking them 1 level earlier with my rapier)
Is there some kind of requirement for sneak attack to work?

My guess is that due to the range difference between weapons and unarmed, you are getting close enough that they are detecting you. My rogue/monk has no problems getting sneak attacks unarmed.

Monks are pretty rank. It's all the walking around barefoot in robes.

Yes to both, or at least it should. Though I can't say I have personally tested this.

I believe that if you were to Sneak up to some dudes, and they couldn't see you you could cleave and hit multiple enemies with sneak attack.

Its just harder to get up to enemies without being seen/heard/detected in some way. Especially solo. If you had a fighter beating on all of those guys, or intimidating them, you'd easily be able to deal your full sneak attack damage.

I can confirm that cleave works unarmed. But I wouldn't take it on a monk, there are generally better feats availble. I took it on my 12 Fighter/8 Monk build, because I had nothing of use to take on one of the fighter class feats.

I tend to like cleave & will take it if i have space - it's fun on a monk as a combat opener, since you'll get ki from every enemy you hit, boosting it nicely for follow-up attacks or going for a chain.. and since it counts as a full attack any procs you have will have a chance of going off, handy if you have a paralyser or weighted weapon equipped as even a small chance at catching more then one enemy with the effect is better than none at all. Also, i just think when unarmed jumping into the middle of the fray & delivering a quick roundhouse flying kick to the entire group of mobs always looks cool
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Cleave is generaly described as an outright usless skill, I've never seen it mentioned in relation to monks before though.

Cleave - as far as unarmed monks goes is not really worth it. I had fun on my acrobat / monk though with a quartestaff as I could sneak attack a large bunch of mobs with big sneak attack damage. In the middle of mobs it went Cleave-diplomacy-cleave. Bunch of dead mobs.
