on a side note, around level 9 I was about to quit my monk too. I had a terrible time in the mid levels. Easy in the beginning. Around 9 I really hit a wall. At and past 12, up until now (almost 17) it's been pretty smooth sailing again.

What I did was get guildies to help. I waited until later on (level 14) and got several to divide/conquer the quest. Sure, no exp, but multiple people = more chances for it to drop for someone (who can then assign it to you). I think I got mine on the 4th try.

There is so much XP and options to level in this game that unless ur TR'ing you shouldn't have problems leveling a monk at any point. Just be selective.

Sorry but the mid level grind su**s for all classes...not just monks.

Well, when its your first character, to be fair you don't really KNOW what the best questing options are (or the best ones to solo and repeat). This applies at all levels, but it hurts most in that level range I mention above. Obviously, once you get to level 12 you can begin to use specialized wraps that can increase the margin of error in soloing anything.

If it's your first character and your solo'ing u should run quests below your level and learn.......you still make nice XP.

If your in a party with people...well it's not up to one person to deal with every situation that's why your in a party.

I know ***** loot drops, run 40+ times weapons shipment, and had to be given the only item I pulled from there.
Sorry to hear your bad luck. Just get some guildies, or again, if on Sarlona, Gobar is my name, and you can ask me to join you for a run. Would gladly help another monk

Same for me if you are on Khyber.

Ditto here. My main, Baaldon on Sarlona, is perma-flagged for shadow crypt so anytime you need an opener send me a tell. If I'm not busy I'll come open it for you.

To mjrepro, TPICKRELL, and Quijonsith: Thanks, but my monk is on Cannith (as with all my characters).

I ran it another 4 times or so last night with some guys attempting to get Devouts, the only named I saw drop was the shards of light and that was once with a 4-6 people each run. Heck I'd be happy with the Phase Hammer, at least I could use that on another character. I've found probably 6 sets of Shards of Light, 4 or so Witching Hours (anyone actually use these?), 1 Dusk/Cloak of Protection/Tenebrous Stiletto.

Met fo PG handwraps are possible drops. I only know cause i have a set. End reward for hard VoD. I also have the devouts. I keep my unbound ones an loan them out to guild monks that do now have such wraps. They are lvl 14 min lvl for use. My monks name is riggem on gallanda server. Ill equip them on next logout if ppl wanna check em out.

I believe it if you say they exist. The problem is the lack of metalline handwraps on the Auction House, which could mean two things.
1: The demand for Metalline handwraps is very high.
2: The supply of Metalline handwraps is very low.

If you compare the supply and prices of handwraps to rapiers on the AH, it is clear that the demand for handwraps is not extremely high. This leaves only number 2 to be true, which means Turbine has probably set the drop rates for randomly-generated metalline handwraps significantly lower than metalline versions of other weapons. They either need to boost the drop chance for metalline handwraps or make Devouts non-binding on acquire or simply drop more often. In any case, something NEEDS to be done about the Monk's lack of access to DR-bypassing handwraps.
