Most likely they're refreegees from some other game where they learned that parties HAVE to have dedicated tanks, DPS, and healers.

i know a lvl 20 FvS that kills DQ elite just by tanking it (kills her with guards alone)

but then again, the OP did say *new* players, so my friend is disqualified from that.

That's a completely different matter, though. I was just trying to point out to anyone who thinks that Clerics are limited in their abilities to do ANYTHING, that they can solo pretty much everything in the game.

...and if they can solo it, they can probably succeed in completing it with a group as well.

Clerics are certainly not alone in being zerg-tastic piles of non-team-playing fail in that respect. I've seen Fighters, Barbs, Rangers, Wizards, etc. all running through a quest as if the rest of the party didn't exist.

Weirdly enough, I've never seen Sorcerers do it. Not sure why.

Let's just say that if a crazy red head you know is flicking her lighter by your shirt, and says move or I will light you on fire. Standing there and mumbling "whatever" is the wrong answer.

It was my bad the thread title should have said SUPPORT CLASS not tanks and if your read my OP it does. I'm not saying that a cleric has to play nannybot but a cleric does need to heal I'm not saying a cleric cant jump in and help out in combat if it's needed but when they do they need to pay attention to life bars. Alot of the noob clerics I have been running into in pugs on my lowbie bard seem to think that combat is all there is and don't know that they have healing spells and well my bard goes through three cure serious wands trying to make up for that fact.
This here is fundementally the problem you are not seeing. EVERY person in the group should have pots on them. To remove poison, remove blindness, remove disease, remove curse, lesser restoration and cure. Now in the heat of a battle you may not have time to drink a potion, or if a barbarian; the ability to do so. I can see a Cleric, Ranger, Paladin, Bard, and Favored Soul using a wand to heal. But between battles everyone should use their own pots, again the barbarian may not be able to do so. To rely on the cleric to do this is ridiculous. To have the cleric supply others in the game who are too lazy or cheap to heal them all the time is just wrong.

I know Join Date isn't a guaranteed indicator of actual play time. But it's generally a good place to start, and if combined with an obvious newbie indicator like "baddleclerics r teh sux0r" then you start to get a pretty good picture of what's going on.

Not asking for constant heals from the cleric just asking that they do realize that they are needed to pull out and throw some out in combat when required. I carry pots and wands on all my toons and give the clerics mana pots if i have one laying around when i see that things are getting hairy and they are running low on sp. I'm not saying that a party should be solely dependant on a healer class to make it through a quest but new players that choose to play clerics need to realize that there is some healing demanded of them.

Anyone who demands that I heal them when on my clerics spends a lot of time dead. No one in this game has the right to demand anything of me. My parents, my child and significant others don't even get to demand anything of me and I actually love them. (Maybe. Sometimes. )

People who ask politely will never notice a drop in their health bar. Your biggest mistake is assuming that clerics are a healing class and a healing class only. Until you realize that that is a secondary role and not primary, you'll never get it--or be a very good cleric.

Oh I get the red-head temper thing. I have a 7yr old daughter that looks like the poster child for the Emerald Isle Tourist Department. Red hair streaked with strawberry blonde highlights, fair skin, and crystal clear ice blue eyes. I'd buy her a shillelagh, but I fear for the lawsuits that would follow...

I'm also fairly certain I'll be apologizing to a lot of parents once she starts dating. And god help the first girl to break her twin brother's heart. That poor wench will likely find herself drugged unconscious and sold to Siberian sex traders before the end of the day...

Nope healing is primary role of cleric/fvs everything else is secondary to say so otherwise goes against what the base description says about the classes. Also would like to state that never get any complaints when playing my cleric in fact get alot of kudos and thanks for keeping us up through shroud which i can solo heal while helping out in the melee. I never said clerics where healing class only my OP says support class and I continue to stand by it.
