    I'm glad I got to see him a couple of times live. He always seemed to sincerely care about his fans deeply, which makes it all the more saddening.

    He gave the world some classic material, even up until his final year. I always loved the fantasy leanings in his lyrics, and really does any music go better with D&D than Dio?

    I know what my soundtrack will be today.

    LOS ANGELES -- Ronnie James Dio, the metal god who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and later piloted the bands Heaven & Hell and Dio, has died, according to his wife and manager. Dio announced last fall he was suffering from stomach cancer. He was being treated at a Houston hospital, according to his website.

    "My heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m," said a statement by Wendy Dio posted Sunday on the site and confirmed by publicist Maureen O'Connor. Wendy Dio said that friends and family were able to say their goodbyes to her husband, and asked for privacy. She concluded: "Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

    Sad to see a legend pass, fortunately I had the chance to see him perform many times solo and with Sabbath.

    Well, as many of you know, DIO was a big influence for me and my music. my band (OBLIVIAXE) is playing a SCIFI convention next weekend called IMAGICON, we do not do but one cover....it happens to be Rainbow in the Dark. Our show will be dedicated to his honor and we will close with rainbow.
