Hey there,
Recently I have been running with a few of these WSS Heal Amp builds in epics and I thought I'd come to the source.
What are you doing in epics? The muppets ive seen have been using Longswords on held trash. They are doing craptastic dps. Do you switch to picks etc or stay with the longswords? This build cant stun either so it doesnt even have that going for it.
Please for the love of all that is holy add something in the OP about adjusting for epics - because as it stands I am leary about accepting these splits into group if they are pugs.
Cheers,

Nick,
Solar hasn't posted in awhile, so I'd like to butt in as I have a build with similar elements to this one. (15/3/2, link in my sig)
These guys shouldn't be using longswords on held monsters. They should be using picks or life-stealing sticks. (dreamspitter, staff of the shadow) They will be completely dependant upon others for auto-crit like other low-strength builds.
The people you see using longswords in epics are getting hung up on a rather addictive mechanism and don't realize that they are being completely ineffective. Same goes for raid fights and not using khopesh. (the hell with proficiency, -4 shouldn't be an issue)
The WSS build is more about exploring the non-epic game with a nigh-unkillable character, IMO. While this exploration is rather slow due to the lackluster DPS of longswords, it is pretty fun nonetheless.
Of note, when it's time to do epics I take my monk or wizard.
I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
This. I keep the HA build for other aspects of DDO.
I use wraps on my HA build but if I really had to take him into an Epic as everyone else was TRed or on timer, it'd be a whip out the Dreamspitter or some picks and leave the self-healing alone. It's never going to keep up with incoming dmg in Epics anyway.
Seems like the players you come across aren't adjusting their style or the char they bring for the content they're facing.
Cool thanks you guys. I imagine it must be frustrating to skip the main purpose of a build but its a disservice to everyone for keeping with the longsword play. At least i know what others are doing now with these sorts of things. +1 to yall.

My 15/3/(willbe 2) has a icy/shock burst handwraps of stun 10 for if the group is running stunners. Also I want to get either shadowstaff or deamspitter if the group has an arcane for holding. That would help with held mobs and I would still be able to spam monk goodies.
I figure that the healing amp and the constant incoming healing in the Solar Phoenix is like having an amazing DR or a really good Wall of Fire. Most of the time, it's spectacular, but there are some times when it just doesn't matter.
A caster specced for a spectacular Wall of Fire is impressive in a lot of quests and can still be really useful in something where all the enemies are fireproof - but not if Wall of Fire is all that he's willing to cast.
I have a version of the 15/3/2, haven't gone into epics yet with him as i'm not comfortable with it before equipping him some more (his only job atm is running claw for tokens).
However, when i do get him into other epics with a group, i plan to use the following.
Dreamspitter
or
thundering pick of maiming / seeker 10 pick of maiming
or
Some bursting stunning 10 wraps (but i doubt i'll get the DC high enough)
There really is no point in staying centered for the healing curse alone in full group epics, dumping the longswords for picks is a no-brainer.
If you are the only 'monk', using the Dreamspitter has the advantage of letting you spam aligning the heavens for the casters.
Ofcourse this is not tested in practice, but it should work decently at the least.
Devourer ate my characters.
I run epics on my Phoenix all the time, however any held/stunned mobs I generally pull out Dreamspitter on. Otherwise I can generally go toe to toe with a lot of epic stuff against only one or two monsters with no outside healing. With outside healing or kiting I can keep a lot of stuff occupied and off the group. Between self healing and a cleric with an aura close enough, the build is difficult to kill. I run litII/dreamspitter in epic, the build serves as moderate dps, with little resource consumption (hardly ever needs a healer's attention as long as you are with the group or not having aggro on a ton of stuff, since an aura or any group heal will pretty much completely take care of any damage taken), as resilient kiter or evasion type (I can hit a 40+ reflex save).
The build works really well when stuff starts to fall apart. I've completely held bases in epic von6 on my own, either standing and making my saves or kiting the trash in a circle, self healing anything that gets through, for extended periods of time. I've also made the run to revive bases that have wiped without getting killed myself.

Recently hit lvl 16 on my solar phoniex and am wondering how long it takes you guys to get the specific runes needed for this set? Since ive been at it for a few days now and have not even seen a healing amp rune be pulled.
Eldritch rune is easy to get. If you don't pull it. Turn in 50 draconic runs in a few times for your choice of one and you'll get it. The tempest one is not incredibly hard to pull, just takes some luck or a bit of effort. If you're constantly crunching eldritches into tempest runes, and smashing up sovereign runes it shouldn't take too long.

ok thank you divon is their any known method for farming runes?
I started my HA armor before the runes were named. I ended up with a stupid amount of tempest runes none of them being 20% HA.
1 method is run Prey on the Hunter until your eyes bleed. Combine any 3 Tempest runes you don't want into s Sov Rune. If you don't want the sov rune, break it down to an eldritch. If you end up with 3 eldritch runes you don't want combine to a tempest. This method will eventually get you what you need. Also you can run in full groups and tell everyone what you are looking for. I offerd 100k + my rune to the group for the 20% HA rune. The rogue that got it traded me without the plat. It just depends on the group.
The first time you TR, you get a 34pt build. The second time you TR, you get a 36pt build. So the answer is to start with 36pt you need to have lived two lives already on that character.
