Grrrrrr.

I just spent an hour running rainbow on casual before realising the stones dont drop all the time on casual setting, dumb bum!!

Then i went to ritual instead, started on normal with a hireling, making ok progress. Ive run the quest plenty of times before but dont really enjoy it, never really pay attention so was having fun.

get to the guy you gota help out, kill the devils and the mystics ( /rant pause by the way, has anyone else ever noticed that he sounds like a grown up version of the guy who says TIMMY! on south park? /rant back on again)

I get to the part where you gota escort him.... ooooh noooooeessss, this is never gonna end happily I give him stoneskin, blur, displacement, all the ele resists, Gh and jump coz you just never know. I haste the 3 of us and in we go.

Im thinking, if i can keep most of the aggro, use hireling to cover me for heals and just try to keep him out of it as much as possible. Buuuuut noooooooo, nipple face thinks otherwise. First off my hireling wouldnt heal him.... oh dear he we go, i said. well.... actually i swore but thats not for young ears. Then i realise that this chaps been on a zerg 101 course and as soon as you clear one room he's off. I think he hangs out with the cleric chick from the korthos series.

Anyhow, TLR = bloke i was supposed to keep alive died, I spent ages at it so now im sulking!!

I want a cookie.

If you're after the stones, the chest still opens after the boss dies. Or at least it did when I did it. Even if the quest is failed.

If you're after the stones, the chest still opens after the boss dies. Or at least it did when I did it. Even if the quest is failed.

He is right if guy dies can still kill end guy get chest and stone just no completion.

So.. One more thing.

The barriers go down when the mystic gnolls are dead, not everything in the area.

So you can pretty safely leave the protected guy spamming spells at some random gnoll/earth elemental somewhere, and then run ahead to kill the next room before he gets in.

I've used that technique a few different times when I'm soloing on a melee character.
