Losing pally Prestige Enhancement III is a big lose. KotC gives very good DPS and DoS gives about 4 extra AC, as well as other benefits.

The sorc lvl quickly becomes obsolete when you have full ranks into UMD, since you'll be able to use scrolls, wand, and all that stuff sorc lvl granted to you but, well, without the sorc lvl.

The extra SP won't matter much, because with SP you'll either do 2 things:

    A) Cast extended battle buffs, like prayer, favor & zeal, or resistances. In this case, rest with an archmage item, buff up with resistances, cast 1st wave of battle buffs and switch to your correct item. You'll still have about ~20 mins of battle buffs with the remaining 200 sp, and that is usually enough.

    B) Self-heal. You'll still have to grind your ears to make it worthwhile, because you won't be able to replenish your mana fast enough, and believe me, +200 sp won't make much of a difference when you jump into a pack of orthons and intimidate them.

I'm convinced. You are not the first to mention this, and even though I was sceptical about KotC at first, experimentation with the first tier shows how good it is. I will defnitely end on a 18 pally/2 rogue build for that reason. At the moment I'm not convinced of the need to +1 reinc at lvl 14 to get KotC II earlier though. At this point in the game the self healing and sp is still proving significant, and at level 14 I get access to cure moderate, which will make it even more significant. For now I think I'll stick to sorc.

More likely to jump into a pack of orthons and DIPLOMACY them hehe - which might mean the caster will get stomped but meh, maybe he shouldn't have been standing there

Talking Lvl 14 and alls well

Ok here we are - lvl 14. Finally got there - character link here:

    "Whabbit" sorcerer/rogue/paladin

Ok so I've decided to keep the sorc level for now. The extra SP is still proving significant especially now that I have access to the cure moderate wounds spell. I find the 427 SP very handy in providing extra resists to party members as well as off healing, and now run with bless, divine favour, divine might and angel skin permanently on giving me +5 to attack, +4 damage and dr of 5/evil.

Damage is still excellent and I top the kills in most quests. At the same time saves are high enough to rarely have to worry about traps or spells. Lay on hands proves a life saver for both me and other party members.

At this stage my plan is to keep the sorc level until lvl 20 - then drop it for the final KotC III enhancement. I see no advantage in getting rid of it at this stage.
