I'm a newb so I"m probably missing something. Why the big aversion to failure?

Even for a newb, I'm finding it difficult to believe that you think failure is ok. Failure is not an option. Win, or die. Those are the only choices.

Seriously though, failing isn't a huge deal most of the time. If you give it your best shot and you fail, no harm done, just try again or go do something else. But just giving up when you've still got a chance like Yaga is saying? That's pretty lame.

I agree with the OP. Some times you should just say F it and carry on. As example, I always pug the shroud and normally if a majority of the party dies in part IV everyone starts recalling and dropping. On a recent run though there was only a healer, a tank and me on my caster after the first round. Well the healer kept healing, the fighter kept fighting and I cast merrily along over many more rounds till we eventually brought him down.

You don't really get much sense of accomplishment from grinding but you sure do when you face adversity and say "let's do it" which becomes "we're doing it!" and ends in "We Did It!!!"

you pike a raid then wonder why it went south, then on top of that complain cuz they didnt complete the raid for you while you was piking and during the course of your piking you killed a dog.... that probly added to the confusion and caos????? and are now trying to figure out why people want to bail out and reform with out you instead of sticking it out and spending all there resources while you pike and make the raid harder???...

Sry Gomer but pikers should not judge others people ability and willingness to complete a raid for you.

...I've been in a lot of groups lately where people, at the first sign of things not following "the plan," just give up and either say let's break and reform or just drop group altogether. What happened to the excitement of rescuing an epic failure of a quest into triumph for the party. Pulling the loot out of a chest that you had to work for is so much sweeter than looking at quests as an ATM; as long as you have the passcode, you get money...
