Wow, I know +1 TOmes dont have the value they once had, and tapestries seem to have an unusually high value for th eincredibly high drop rate, but really?

I think you'd have better luck just saying "Hey, I'm poor, can someone give me a +1 Str tome please?"

Judging from AH, a tap shred SEEMS to be in the same price range as a +1 tome. If I was wrong, I will learn something. If not, I will get a tome.

Value is subjective, so I can't say anything about the value of a Tap shred vs. a +1 Str. tome. What I can discuss is time.... In one 30-min run of the Orchard, I can normally expect between 3 - 8 Tap pieces. I see +1 tomes, maybe about 2 or 3 times a month with obviously a 1/6 chance of that tome being a Str tome.

I'd suggest that you could get that Tap shred in about 10 minutes with a minimum of effort so MOST people will value a shred accordingly.

Logically it makes sense, and in fact occurred to me. Yet as of yesterday, Cannith AH had, IIRC, total of TWO tapestry shreds -- rather fewer than +1 STR tomes, let alone all +1 tomes. Perhaps it was just a fluke.

Few months ago I recall seeing pages and pages of tapestry shreds.

Again, subjective rules the day. I have a stack of +1 tomes in the bank, so if I really needed a Tap RIGHT NOW and the Orchard was being difficult with the drops... I might be willing to take you up on your deal. But playing the odds, I bet most would just spend a bit of time grinding to get the Taps rather than make the trade.

Imo taps 3500 plat each, +1 str tome 15000 plat. And taps are still over priced.

Reguardless send Varr the tap with a written request for +1 strtome and I'll mail ya one.
Varr's all over. Cannith Varr getting the love currently.

Taps are way too high on this server. I never went into the Orchard on Thelanis to get taps. I could usually get a set of 20 for 8-10k plat. The lowest I saw a set for on the AH here on Cannith the other day was 120k plat. I realize for some people their time is worth more to them than the plat but I just couldn't pay that much for those things.

Looks like somebody read this thread, and got ideas. On the evening of May 12, only few hours after our exchange here, there was a bunch of Taps on AH starting at 75-100,000 gp. And yesterday someone put a stack of 20 Taps with no buyout.

Taps are currently seriously overpriced here on Thelanis. A set of 20 taps might be listed for 250k plat or so. Lots of 1-5 stacks of taps going for around 20k plat per tap. One could say the same thing about Blue Dragon Scales, but I won't go there...

I don't really care as it doesn't really affect me. I grind all my own taps and do not really place a monetary value on them.

To give those an idea what taps are really worth, a level 10 arcane can go into the orchard and farm a stack of 20 in around 2 hours...

I suspect a number of players who do not have access to the Orchard are at play here. The Minos Helm is considered a defacto required piece of hardware for most builds. With 20 Taps in hand, and a minimum guest pass, you can pop into the zone with the quest giver, get the Taps quest, get the bag, fill it and turn it in for your helm for pretty short "money". Since those same players would likely NOT have time to farm the TAPS themselves, the only route is to beg or buy them.

This alone goes a long way to understanding the spiking in AH prices on taps.

Plus since Cannith probably has a lower percentage of VIP accounts than many other server (except Orien), there is a smaller source of supply to stock those Taps needs.

Is that actually possible? Before I bought Necropolis 4/Orchard pack I considered getting a guest pass, but when I checked DDO Store there were guest passes for only a few of the packs, and Necropolis 4 was not one of them. Does anyone know about it?

BTW, do Minos Legens and other Orchard reward items bind on acquire? IOW, is it impossible to turn in taps/shield fragments and sell rewards?

    They do bind.

I thought you could get guest passes to everything, but to be honest have not checked in a long time (they could have also dropped some from the list). I seem to recall hearing that method cited in other threads. Since I have VIP accounts have not worried about it personally.
