My new HOT TUB

I'm here asking for help because I can't find the answer im looking for on the world wide web.
Problem/question: I recently installed a hot tub (2weeks ago to be exact) went to get in the other day and noticed the water smells like Moth Balls. Why?

Is the water clear? Are the chems balanced? (ph and alk?) Were your swimsuits stored in mothballs before using the tub?

Personally, I would shock it first, and if the smell remains after the chlorine dissipates, I would change the water.. perhaps there are some residual chemicals from the manufacturing process. Be sure to rinse the filter really well before refilling.

I have smelled some interesting things in my tub before, but never mothballs..

A couple of other questions...

How long was the tub in storage before installation?

Was the tub bought brand new?

Was the tub installed by a licensed technician?
