Default Ranger Splash for Wizard Elf?

Ok here is the problem I have been running into. I am leveling a Wizard, currecntly level seven. I am looking into the ranger prestige till I get to level 20 and then Reincarnate back to pure Wizard, so before I get the whole thing over how it is better just to have pure wizard at higher levels I know. I will be going back to it once I can. But for now I am looking in purely for leveling up till then. I am thinking my next two levels will be into Ranger. This way I get the +2 BAB I need to get the prestige class quicker and all the fun bonuses that come with it. I am currently running him with a cold bow and flame arrows for the damage but thinking the Force damage would be even more so better for single targets. For AOE I am using Firwal, I LOVE IT! but I am thinking for single targets I love the bow thought. Anyone have any thoughts to share along this thought please advise... Thanks!

    Default dont bother

totally not worth it. play around with the feats with a pure 20 elf wizard. Im playing one currently and i havent gotten to cap yet. but she will have manyshot, all the arcane archer stuff, pale master 2 with form of the lich. all the important bow and metamagic feats, low end umd. decent amount of hitpoints. toss a few tensers scrolls on her to mix in with manyshot and a pos 3 bow with your slaying arrows that i believe still hit red and purple named (its a damage effect not a kill effect) and you are gold.

Can you actually get your BAB, DEX, and STR (if you have Bow STR) high enough to be any good at archery as an almost-pure wizard? To me that always seems to be the sticking point with these builds.
