Angry Comrades, want User-Made Item Lore?

That's right comrades, user-made item lore. Part of the fun for me in Neverwinter (or similar games) is finding unique items and reading the lore for it. I usually spend hours(total) just reading item descriptions or books. I know that there are unique items in DDO and it has interesting lore as well, however, it would be awesome if we could make our own, here's what I thought:

    • The item/procedure that enables us to do this will either cost lots of plat or (preferably) Turbine points.
    • This item can be only be used on randomly generated items (or on greensteel or dragontouched items, aka crafted items perhaps)
    • Once used, the user can change the items name and description (but not the stats)
    • Once the name and description has been set, it will then be sent to the Turbine peeps for approval and screening.
    • Once approved, the new name and description will now be available on your item
    • .
    • In the event that you sell or give this item to another person, and that other person uses the namechanger on it, it will not change the description, but rather amend the current description (this will allow us to see how old the item is, and how many people has held it).

    neat idea...

except it would cause a flood of work that would not change game play.

I mean I may have a +5 Flaming Burst Longsword of Greater Elf Bane...and it's story is "This sword was used by a Cannith Patriarch to remove the "abomination" that is known as Elves from his beloved Stormreach".

And sure the new guy whos job is to read may think, wow this is funny and cool role playing...but then some one else may be Jewish and say that this Cannith guy I am referring to is a "Hitler-type" and they find it offensive.

They would be opening themselves to having to read a TON of descriptions which would most definitely be taken in some sort of racist connotation (intended or not).

Like I said...neat idea...just opens them up for bad things.

I know, this idea has a "bad" side. But its up to Turbine on how to screen it though, I'm not exactly familiar with American laws and stuff like that.

For those who will say "Meh, waste of dev time, etc.", this kind of feature is a guaranteed best-seller, further increasing Turbine's horde.
