Problems installing on Vista, please Help!

Finally convinced my girlfriend create a character.

Installed it on her laptop which is running Vista.

DL'd it no problem, even installed it and even been able to log in to my account, get into the game and move around.

Problem:

Whenever I close the client it just "disappears"

DDO doesn't leave a shortcut on the desktop, doesn't leave an icon in the quick launch bar.

I also can't find it in her list of programs

When I go into her computer and look in program files I can find a Turbine folder and can find icons there but can't get any of them to work.

When I click on the dndlauncher I get an error message "C:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\DDO Unlimited\TurbineLauncher.exe"
The system cannot find the file specified.

The icon is just an icon

Shortcut that has the same icon as ddo and is labeled "mce" gets the same error message

Other icons in that same folder do not work also, TurbineElevator & TurbineInvoker don't work and the only other icons are the unistall icons, which I really don't want.

So basically if I install it every time (using the repair option) I can then log in, but if I close it, its gone.

Her computer is a newer HP running Vista, I'm really besides myself here (I personally wouldn't run Vista: XP till death!) so I don't really know what is going on, but usually when one installs a program it should at least be listed in Programs from the start menu, so it seems like it is thinking it is installing, but the install doesn't take.

I'm also worried that I can't find and run the Turbine client, besides being able to run ddo.

Is this a known problem for Vista?

Is there a patch or something?

Please someone help me out, I want to play ddo with my girl now I got her convinced to play!

I know I'm late, and new to the game ... but I have some of the same problems.

I'm on Vista, downloaded and installed just fine, except I have no shortcuts ANYWHERE, and no icons. I was able to track down the game in Program Files\Turbine\DDO Unlimited\dndlauncher.exe and set up my own desktop shortcut.

Don't know if that'll help, or if your girl gave up. (Hopefully she didn't, or you found a way to fix it already)

well the easyiest thing to do would be to uninstall vista, take a shower to get the unimaginable stink of that crappy OS off yourselves, and install xp, 7, or some other os.

that being said i do remember that a weird quark of vista is it puts stuff that normally goes in the the program files area into the documents and settings folders somewhere.
