    When i put a force ritual on weapon I think if I am going to use it a lot in epic or not. I made SOS just for fun and mostly will use in epic quests so that seemed like the reasonable ritual.

    30% of your hits are crits meaning that each one needs a 3 on the 1d4 to make up for the other non-crit hits. And even if you always roll a 3 you still fall slightly short being that you would need 33% to truley equal out. So then every time you roll a 1 on the d4 the next 2 crits would have to roll a 4 on the d4 too make up for the low roll, and so on and so forth.

    If it was 1d6 then it would be a possible valid option.

    I know Im probably being a bit to much of a number cruncher but I have always felt that the standard 1 point of extra damage is more efficient in the long run....but thats just me.
    On a 15-20 x3:

    1 dmg on each hit:
    norm = 1 * 0,7 = 0.7
    crit = 1 * 3 * 0.3 = 1
    total avg = 1.7

    1d4 on crit:
    norm = 0 * 0.7
    crit = 2.5 * 3 * 0.3 = 2.5
    total avg = 2.5

    So my uneducated guess is crit ritual (in mega crit 15-20 x3 situation) better. Unless I'm missing something, I'm using the formula I read on the forums - that avg of a dice is (max value+1)/2, making 1d4 = (4 + 1)/2 = 2.5.

    Your calculation is not really accurate, you made a few mistakes, I always calculate the average on 20 hits, given we roll d20s, here's how I calculate it:

    1 damage ritual:

    You swing your sword 20 times, you always miss once (rolling a 1). 19 damage on 20 swings for an average of 0.95 damage each swing. This is according to the fact that you hit the monster when you roll a 2.
    If you hit only when you roll higher than a 10, 11+ you hit, 10- you miss, that's 10 hits on 20 swings, 10 damage for an average of 0.5 each swing. The 1 force damage ritual will get better on easy to hit monsters, but once monsters have a higher ac, you hit less.

    Force crit ritual:

    You are right for the average of the force crit, it's 2.5 but the formulae is not realy (max damage +1)/2, but (max damage + min damage)/2, not that it really matter, the result is the same, but with max+min/2 you can calculate multiple dices at the same time like 2d4, 3d8.

    Now the calculation, on a 15-20 weapon, no matter the multiplier, you crit 6 times on 20 swings. That's 6 * 2,5 = 15 for an average of 0,75 damage each swing. On basic monsters where you always hit, force crit is less effective, but on monsters with some ac, given you confirm your crits on a regular basis, force crit becomes more effective

    I hope I got this correctly, I've been out for some time, and might not remember every little things accurately, correct me if I was wrong in this calculation.

    You say that now, but I bet you would be singing a different song when you looked up at your neck from the ground with your decapitated head!
