Default Pure or not Pure that is the Question?

My Paladin is at 7th level and pure as the driven snow. He is a drow twf and recently acquired a sun blade sword. The question is would I be better off staying pure and keeping an end KotC build or throw some mud on the snow and take a couple of fighter levels for feats after level 14. Don't want to delay getting holy swords. Or are they not worth it? Let me know what you think and have a good day. (Unless you want to have a bad day).

Depends on what you want to accomplish.

I would say Pure is the way to go at this point, unless you take Fighter right now and start putting skill points into intimidate.

The most common "splashes" on PLD are FTR ROG and MNK.

FTR gives 2 Feats and a Haste boost and +1 STR and maintains BAB of 20 and unlocks intimidate.

ROG unlocks Intimidate, Evasion and UMD, and a Haste Boost but you will lose 1 BAB (but gain 1d6 Sneak Attack Damage).

MNK gives 2 feats, Evasion and a little bit of self-healing and possibly an AC boost.

Going Pure PLD is probably the best as far as DPS and LOH. Also PLD Capstone is just play sick.

It is up to you what you do.

Generally if you wanted to splash ROG or MNK onto PLD you do first level as ROG or MNK then like level 9 ROG or MNK.

FTR can be splashed at almost anytime, but I recommend getting it soon so you can unlock intimidate and start putting points into that. And generally people go FTR at lvl 1 or 2 so easliy have the 23 Ranks in Intimidate (if they are interested in tanking).

    Hope this helps.

At this point, i would say, go pure, if you want DPS, splashing fighter will actually hurt you more than help you.

If you are already a Paladin TWF, then stay pure. You get way better benefits than splashing anything else, IMO.

Paladin capstone is all I need to convince me to stay pure......plus I have fallen out of the MC thing...seems like it's a way to have every little advantage you can instead of the true challenge of playing a pure build....overcoming weaknesses and playing on strengths. This is just IMO...so plz all you MC's don't think I am insulting or degrading you, because I am not.....just a personal preference on my part.

    I say go pure.

Bacab put it best: stay pure if you want to focus on DPS; fighter splash if you want to tank (tower shields + Intimidate + extra feat or two); Evasion from rogue or monk adds survivability; rogue adds skills for extra utility and a bit of sneak attack; monk adds feats and WIS AC boost. However, any of those splashes really should've been taken at 1st level, so unless you want to LR +1 to add it in now, I would stick with pure paladin.

Pure paladin is very good... best DPS...

2 levels of rogue is very nice though too... evasion and UMD offer a TON of survivability. So you could lose a little offense, but gain some serious defense... Haste Boost, and Open Lock are nice too

2 levels of monk gets you evasion, and two feats... and paladins are feat-starved...

But paladin capstone is pretty sweet...

Definitely go pure to 14 first... holy sword and Zeal are awesome...

Stay pure the capstone is to hard to pass up. Pali KOTC are nice dps and adding cap just makes them better.

I would take a pure pali over a splash anyday just for that fact even though splash builds are awesome in there own right if built right.

Seeing as you didn't plan the splash of anything from beginning it will probably hurt more than help with any splash ya take at this point.

The only reason to take fighter levels is for intimidate and tower shield for a tank build. That's not a good match for a TWF drow, and it's something you should have done from the beginning if you were going to.

Thanks for the information. When I built this toon was planning on staying pure. I know rogue is best at lvl one and not interested in tanking nearly as much as I am in dps. I've read on several threads that Paladins are behind barbs and fighters on dps and was simply putting out a question to settle my mind as to stay pure or not for best toon.
I like my pally and don't plan on mc with him.
So thanks for all the information and if you could give some advice as to armor and weapons would be helpful. Thanks again for confiming my thoughts when I started this toon.
