    Default Halfing or Drow

So ive been dramaticaly indecisive about my rogue. ive rerolled several times, and tried assassin(at level 15), hated it, because of always having to be in sneak mode to assassinate, and often when using assassinate i ended up missing(not miss via attack roll, miss like using trip in the middle of town) now dont get me wrong, vorapls to any weapons are awsome, but i figured i would like theif acrobat or mechanic more. and i dont want to make a mechanic. so Theif it is. in that aspect. I set about building a theif acrobat, and came with 2 concepts, tempest or Staff. my first thoughts on staff rogue were monk 6 rogue 12 or 13, 1 other. to yet be decided. but ended settling on the builds below for the most part. feats, skill progression are subject to change, but im not to concerned about them.

I would love opinions on the builds. from what i can tell, i can still use a staff similar to a staff rogue, or vorpal kamas with the air stance, but main build is focused on rapiers. and the races are Halfling vs Drow. i can seem to see a few small benefits of each and would like your opinions on the races. Ignore the skills for the halfling, most likely going witht he drows(just did them for tests to lazy to change), a couple feats are subject to change, but generally will be the same for both.

aside the class and levels - I have always like Halflings +1 to AC, +1 to-hit, Halfling enhancements, ie saves, cunning and guile and the fact that you dont weaken yourself in the CON ability.

Drow offer SR, +2 to damage and to-hit with rapiers and +2 in Charsima for UMD and Int for rogue skills.

SR - you can pick up an item for this

+2 damge +2 to-hit - really its only +1 to-hit and cunning and guile more then make up for the +2 damage in flank mode.

+2 Charisma - your really talking +1 to your UMD only, very minor
+2 Int - your not going assassin so where does this matter other then perhaps a+1 action point. You will still be able to max out your rogue skills where it counts.

    Halfling FTW!

in comparison of what ive seen, 12 str halfing with the same feats as 14 str drow, and enhancements save guile/cunning vs rapier+2/2,

+1 ac, +1 to fort, and ref save, +1 damage when flanking, 3/4ths carrying, +4 to hide, +2 to move silently, +2 con vs

+2 to search, +1 will save(vs spells, which is the only thing that matters really), +1 cha skills(+2 cha).

with the enhancements, and feats the same save the 2 racial ones mentioned. they are almost identical i just cant decide between what, but im probably going halfling.

There have been some threads by those who are rather expert on rogue builds and number crunching. In the end, you are right, the two are near identical, both get advantages and disadvantages, go with whichever seems to suit your style.
