Wizard gear wishlist

Just thought I'd put forward a list of items that I'd like to have equipped on my wizard at level 20. If you have other items that you'd rather have, please chime in and let us know the reasons why.

I'm not saying that this is the definitive list of must-have gear. This is just a wishlist of things that I'm going to be generally looking for. If one of these pops up on the 20th reward list for a raid, I'll pick it over the other options.


Armor: Dragontouched Docent/Robes with Greater False Life/Int +6/Glacial Assault or Greater Potency VII

Head: Minos Legens

Goggles/Glasses: Shroud +45 HP item with Dex skills for Open Locks (Con skills for most folks). Goggles of Minute Seeing +15 and Goggles of Disabling +15 for traps if I end up being the trap monkey.

Neck: Torc of Prince Rayium De

Weapon1: Shroud Spell Point/Concordant Opposition item with Int/Cha skills bonus
Weapon2: Greater Spell Penetration VII scepter or something better that you come up wtih...

Gloves: Gloves of the Glacier

Wrists: Bracers of the Glacier

Ring1: ToD ring to match the appropriate Amrath belt
Ring2: Feather Falling ring of +Balance

Boots: ?? Another Shroud item? maybe put Spell Points here? Feather Falling to free the other ring slot?

Belt: Rakir's Sash or similar Amrath belt

Cloak: Stormreaver's Napkin

Trinket: Litany of the Dead & Bauble & Eardweller


What would you rather have? Ideas/questions/comments?

I would make quite a few changes... listing the things i would change...

Oh... your set is missing deathblock. Please dont walk around withouth deathblock.

Armor: Dragontouched Docent/Robes with Greater False Life/Int +6/Glacial Assault or Greater Potency VII

You do not need +6 int (napkin covers it). But you do need deathblock. Id go for deathblock and 2 guards.

Goggles/Glasses: Shroud +45 HP item with Dex skills for Open Locks (Con skills for most folks). Goggles of Minute Seeing +15 and Goggles of Disabling +15 for traps if I end up being the trap monkey.

Conc. Oposition with +150 except sp and blindness ward. Concordant opposition is good.

2 conc. opositions are really good if they stack ( latest tests show they do )

Weapon2: Greater Spell Penetration VII scepter or something better that you come up wtih...

Skiver. Or Greenblade. Or Epic greenblade.

Gloves: Gloves of the Glacier

Probably +45 hp shroud gloves. Get efficient maximize on the doggie ring

Ring1: ToD ring to match the appropriate Amrath belt

This is gonna be fun because of the belts i choose... id say its a free slot

Ring2: Feather Falling ring of +Balance

Doggie ring.

Boots: ?? Another Shroud item? maybe put Spell Points here? Feather Falling to free the other ring slot?

Striding if you dont have it anywhere else. Shroud if you get striding on a ring.

Belt: Rakir's Sash or similar Amrath belt

One of the +6 con Greater False Life belts.

Trinket: Litany of the Dead & Bauble & Eardweller

Get a Silver flame necklace and switch it with the Torc at the appropriate time

2 conc. opositions are really good if they stack ( latest tests show they do )

The Ring of Thelis has efficient Metamagic: Empower II. The gloves have Efficient Metamagic: Extend II and Maximize II. If the OP is planning to use spellpen on a weapon I would suggest dropping the Braciers of the Glacier. The spellpen on a weapon is spellpen7, the bracer is spellpen8 (nice for Otto Irresistible Dance/ Mass charm)

One of the +6 con Greater False Life belts.

Having Greater False Life on a belt is a bad idea as you will loose 30 HP the moment you switch to one off the Amrath clickies... GFL on DT armour may be a better choice (not saying it is as I switch to my Regalia as well if needed )

All in all not bad items you mention PopeJual untill you start doing epics regularly. Then your list will probably change a bit

A few more things I carry on my caster are:

1. Spell storing ring
2. Ogre power ring of GFL because my DT has resistance +5 instead of GFL. Also the strength helps a bit with str damages.
3. Staff of petitioner and other good things from Abbot raid (are on my wishlist)

Wow, I don't know whether to be depressed, because I don't have any of that gear aside from Minos Legens and a Dragontouched Robe of Uselessness, or interested because it's nice to have a sense of the items that more experienced players think that a 20 level wizard should have. Probably some of both, I guess.. although the fact is that I don't have the opportunity to play enough to grind out really good gear.

From what I've read and seen, a single weapon and a single accessory will stack with each other. 2 weapons or 2 items won't stack with each other, though.

Unlock the suppressed power on the Mindsunder Docent. You get supreme fals life, toughness so you don't have to wear the minos helmet. Gives you more hit points and frees up a helmet slot.

I didn't open this barrel with monkeys 2 Conc. Opp do not stack ...ok, unless they are on an item and weapon. I think it would be very wise to assume this is something the dev have overlooked and will be fixed in a near future. I don't write this in my defense but something I serious believe

Either way I would never spend the large ingredients and slots on 2 conc. opp and wearing my torc Especially not if you include some real high end game/ epic items, which are very nice for a wizard (epic spectacles of spirit light just to mention one)

Just my 2 cents of course
