    Default Playing as a Caster

So I decided to roll a wizard because I have liked playing casters in previous games. However, I am having trouble with the mechanics.

What is the best way to target enemies as a caster. Should I tab to lock them, right click them, something else?

I feel like the action in DDO is much more fast paced (than WOW which is another reason I love this game), so it is tough to lock the targets.

    Any suggestions?

I play mostly clerics, but when I'm going offensive I either tab when mobs are grouped (ex, for a soundburst, where the AOE will hit them all anyway) or click on a mob when it matters which one I hit (ex, for a hold on a caster that will put some pain on the party if he lets anything loose). Some quests its hard for me to target specifically, especially if I'm dealing with 10 kobolds jumping around like bullfrogs.

If you are having trouble targeting, it may be to your advantage to let those front line guys get the aggro before letting loose with anything. Once they are standing in place it makes it much easier. For Web, etc, just use toggle mode by holding down your left mouse button and target that way. It takes a little practice, so go to either an inn or to an open explorer area and practice (like on the way to misery's peak). Also, you can creep up in sneak mode and practice targeting without getting aggro. Get used to tabbing and watching them light up. You aren't alone in the fact that sometimes you target the wrong mob in the heat of battle. Everyone does it from time to time. Good luck.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

    What Biggin said

Practice, practice, practice. I usually tab around until I get the right mob. But it strongly depends on what you want to do. If you want to throw a fireball, a click or tabbing might be the way to go.
If you want to cast Burning Hands, you might be better off just hitting the Tilde key, to toggle the closest enemy.

I'v played many Casters Arcane and Divine and after a little bit I have stopped targeting all together unless its a single target spell. Right Click for Mouse look and toss out aoe spells like that.

What a stupid ruling, we all know that D&D promotes satanism, not gangs.

I've mapped target to mouse button 4 for quick and easy target selection.

I completely turned off the soft-targeting, and use tab mostly, although I occasionally use the mouse.
