Default Depths of Discord/Doom and Wraiths

Alright, I am currently doing "The Depths" series of quests in the House of D. My class is Monk - Light Path. Currently lvl5. I ran into a Wraith in the Depths of Discord dungeon. Obviously couldn't kill him. I took on Elemental Boss with Wraith hitting me, and barely survived. My question is: what can I do about Wraiths if I meet up with one? Do I just run? Will it stop following me if I go far enough? Or is there something a Monk can do outside of "getting the heck of of Dodge"?

Would appreciate any help that people can offer.

The answer to this is simple....get Ghosttouch handwraps, kama, or qstaff.....and kill them. Aside from Dryden in the Catacombs and the Wraiths in Chamber of Insanity......pretty much all the low level wraiths are pretty easy to take down.

Be careful of the two I mentioned tho, they are very hard hitters.

Cool. I have a pair of Eternal Rest Handwraps in my inventory. They have ghosts Touch. I knew I was keeping them for some reason. Thanks!

You don't actually need ghost touch. But it's a lot easier (at least twice as easy. )

Put your back in a corner and swing as fast as you can. Block and heal up, and carry lesser restore pots to get rid of the con damage they might do to you.

You might need a magical weapon/handwraps, but almost everyone has that, so I don't even know if it is required in DDO or not...shouldn't be a problem.

They are tough at your lvl, but if you survived being beat on by one all that time, you should have no trouble killing it IMO.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

Yep, basically once you are lvl 5+ you should always have a pair of Ghost Touch handwraps hotkeyed, and switch to them whenever you you run into any incorporeal mob. (For the first 10 levels or so of the game, that only means wraiths and spectres as far as I know.)

Even if you happen to get a pair of Ghost Touch handwraps that are better than the Eternal Rest ones, DON'T throw those out...as the Eternal Rest are also Silver-threaded, which means they can bypass the (rather substantial) DR of vampires. As far as I know, you won't see your first vampire until the lvl 9 quest "The Church and the Cult" in House P.

Yep, Eternal Rest is a decent pair of low level Ghost Touch/Church and the Cult /dr beaters.

When you get up to a higher level and can afford them, many monks choose Spectral Gloves for the bonus to hit - they also have the Ethereal property, letting all your attacks be treated as if they were ghost touch.

The end of the Bloody Crypt (Necro 1) has a vampire as well. I think that quest is level 7.

As trivial and lowbie as they seem, keep these- you'll need them in STRANGE places. Prolly to level 10-12 IMO

Heh... ghost touch is one of those things where melee needs it almost everywhere in Necro 2 if they didn't call in the special exterminator (firewall happy arcane) to clean the place up.

Just play the numbers. incorp is a 50% miss chance, if you have wraps that will do more than twice as much damage as your +1 silver threaded ghost touch wraps use those. My +2 acid wraps of pure good do about twice as much damage for example, undead bane and greater undead bane weapons could easily get higher than that too.

    OP,

From the sounds of your post, it looks like you are trying to solo. If that is what you are doing I would suggest getting a pair or 3 of the Visor of the Flesh Render Guards. They are found as possible end reward for the Assault on Splinterskull (a.k.a. Tangleroot) series (lvl 3-7). They are a death ward clickie and pretty important for anyone who wants to solo much.

    Ez

Yup, I am soloing. Unfortunately, I already started the Splinterskull series. I got all the way to the lvl6 quest in the series and stopped. I guess I will have to complete the series and either hope to get the Visor as a reward or do the series over when I am done...

But thanks for the heads up on the visor, I will look out for it. Any other good items to have when soloing?? Guess Ia m also at a loss at what weapons work well on the undead....if someone could suggest some, that would be really helpful.
