Default How badly do I gimp myself?

From what I understand if I do not take the +1 tomb for int at lvl 3 it makes a pretty big difference in available skill points for the life of my character.

I was going to take the plus 2 at level 7.

Will this make up for the fact that I didn't take the plus one?

    Or am I already behind?

    Thanks.

You only get more skill points if your int score is an even number after you take the tome... so if you int is at 12 before the tomb the +1 is wasted, if your int would be 13 before tomb the +2 is wasted.

Basicly you should know what skills you want as you build and plan in tombs before creating

It's either one or the other. If your INT at creation was an odd number, then all you EVER need is a +1 tome as a +2 will never do anything for you. (Of course a +3 would be gravy, but that is way down the road in your future if ever.) If your INT at creation was an even number, then a +1 tome is worthless only the +2 will help.

EDIT: Before anyone jumps down my throat regarding "worthless," I am speaking merely from the standpoint of getting additional skill points, which is what I got the sense the OP was most concerned about. Obviously there are other in-game benefits to adding INT, which could be more or less important depending upon one's class.

Except for rare builds, the skill point difference will be miniscule.

The builds hurt most by not having early access to Int tomes are those that are mostly melee-class levels with low skill points (like Paladin and Fighter) that want Intimidate and/or UMD, or trapsmithing, or both.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Like MithrilSoul said, except one additional scenario...

If you are putting every level up into Int (say, a wizard), use both the +1 and the +2 (and +3, +4, etc...) as soon as you can.

For a very very very long time even +1 tomes were rare and builds got on fine without them. It would be difficult to completely gimp yourself by not using one.
