another question: is the reincarnation based on levels or xp? i.e. do I lose any excess (unlevelled) xp?

Just make sure you're at the highest level your xp can bring you to. (IE, don't have enough xp to level up and LR before leveling up.)
Otherwise no issues, and you'll stay at your current xp total.Former Xoriat-er. Embrace the Madness.
