OP, half the "vets" on the forums are utter noobs in game. As long as you are willing to learn and a decent player, don't worry about what you can't afford or don't know.

Just had to echo that it's a forum thing... unless you're into strange multiclasses, in which case you'll see it throughout the entire game![]()

Rhianni,
There are definitely some vets who have played the game for so long and have so much of it memorized that they have a hard time relating to someone for whom the game is new and fresh. They also are often, but not always, very focused on specific goals for their character and like to work efficiently toward that goal.
However, there are bunch of vets who enjoy running quests with new players, explaining things, and being helpful. (Often these are the same players as above, just on a different day or when they are in a different mood).
Lots of vets are very willing to help out new players. For example, I run several clerics. I like to see players have the right potions to be somewhat self sufficient. I will often hand out such potions to new players if they do not have them in quest. PM me your character's name. I'll mail you stacks of some potions and stuff. Always like to help new players. That's how the game grows.
Glad you enjoy the game. Welcome!

I'm a vet, but I still learn something new all the time.
Usually when I am partying with people I say nothing, and let the new people figure it out for themselves.
Honestly if they ask a million questions during a quest I'll probably drop, it means they are unwilling to figure things out themself.
The furthest I will usually go into leading a group is walking in front of them while they follow, I usually won't give instruction tho.
Some good stuff, here. I'll highlight a couple things.
1. As long as you don't adopt a newbs vs. vets attitude, you will be fine in the game or even on the forums. There are tons of examples (like this one) of people new to the game, posting honest questions and seriously looking for advice, being flooded with excellent and polite answers, tips, and offers in-game for help, gear, and plat.
2. The game isn't that big. You will start to identify people in-game you like and respect and people on the forums you trust with sound advice (e.g. KingofCheese in this thread). Don't trust every random person who sounds like a vet, many are clueless and faking. Listen to everyone, think for yourself.
Almost nearly always: Ghallanda
Most likely: Heisenberg, Landau, Boltzmann, Sommerfeld, Rutherford, Bohr, Tezla, and Dirac.
But also: Vigner, Minkowski, Schrodinger, Fermi, Hartree, Sternn, Gerlach, and others.
My suggestion would be not to worry much about consumables untill higher level.By higher level you will have enough money to support yourself and bring up another toon. Also if I were you and was unsure about the price of a particular named item or anything that you feel would bve valuble,I would check Khyber's trade threads for advice.
The key for a nice sum of plat is to loot and sell everything.Farming popular low level loot runs is good too.I suggest you check out xorian cypher in house j when you are ready.I think its level 8.Pulling one of the named items in there will give you a jump start on your cash flow for sure.
As far as noobs vs. vets ? Mostly forum things not related to the majority population. You seem willing to learn and take advice so i couldnt forsee any problems with the experienced players on your sever.
Anyways in not from khyber but good luck on your ddo adventures anyways![]()
IMO if i have an lfm up that says byoh, ip, zergfest. Thats what it means. If you join an lfm like that to learn you will be met with some resistance. But if my lfm simply states Tear norm any class. Thats what it means, and I wont expect you to have all your own pots etc.
I dont mind grouping with new people, but when I dont want to, and state so, I get peeved when they get into group.
