    Default Nvidia crashes

I've been pulling my hair out too with this crashing problem. I could play for several hours then the game would cause my computer to crashes and my oh so helpful monitor would give me a no input display message, as if I didn't already notice all was black and dead.... Then once the game crashed, that was it for playing because the longest it would go before the next crash was 5 minutes. Luckily, I have found the solution, it is not a software conflict, or driver update or other blah blah blah resolution conflict problem. It is your computer's chip temparature. As you play, your GPU and CPU temparature go up and once you his 80 degrees C your computer crashes. Naturally, once the computer gets that hot it will crash more frequently as it takes very little game play to bring it to 80 degrees C. NVIDIA has a wonderful new control panel program on their website in the downloads catagory. It gave me ( I have a 9600 GT) the ability to switch my fan control from automatic to manual. Crank that sucker up to 96% and your system should stop overheating. When you are finished playing go back into the control panel and swithch everything back to default settings so you don't overtax your fan unnecessarily. The control panel program makes it all quite easy. I would also switch any virus/ security programs to passive or silent mode while you play, this helps me too.
Why only this game causes my GPU (Whatever that is) or CPU to get hot so fast is beyond me. I spent weeks reinstalling, upgrading drivers, messing with resolutions, all to know avail. Once I was able to monitor and control the GPU & CPU temp, I knew when it would crash, tested the theory, and thankfully able to find help on NVIDIA's web page. Hope this helps. Good luck!!! PS I woudn't be morally offended if DDO sent a couple of DDO points my way if any other users found this to be the solution to a highly annoying problem. I could put them towards a healing potion to ease my game playing wounds....

If your PC (or mother board maker which requires knowing the exact make model) don't have newer stand-alone sound drivers (or they might be bundled in with the "Chipset" drivers) that work Realtek does have updated drivers for their cards here:
    http://www.realtek.com/downloads/
(click the "high definition audio codecs" link)

that was with the 2010 driver for my sound card, the high definition audio codec
could it be a conflict between the bios or my motherboard and that new driver ?

    Default temperature

    Arcaneblade

i got speedfan on my computer to check my temperature and my cpu/gpu never passed over 45C
i dont think its my temperature
i have an extra fan on my side panel setted on max speed to prevent high temperature as well i never had
any problem of temp with that computer for the 3-4 years i was playin ddo
i dont think the last 2-3 update would change my computer temperature

but thx for tryin to help

Edit: the turbine points would be nice :P ive pay for last 3 month without being able to fix problem and play the game
and i had to spend several $ replacin part that multiple crash burned (my ram burned due to ddo too many crash)
my windows had to be reinstalled due to that overcrash as well
so it costed me $ + the 3 month ive pay for a result that i cant still play

    Bubba (Love that Name),

After the control panel install, you should have an icon called Performance. Double-click that and then choose Device Settings from the Task Selection. From here you should be able to change the fan control from Automatic to Manual. Dial that baby up to 94% and hit the APPLY button. That should fix any temparature problems.

I was having the same issue with my 9600GT, even after i underclocked it 10%...

The fix for me was to log in, and at the character selection screen, go to options>troubleshooting (or something like that) and change max FPS from unlimited to 40 (your eye can't really tell any difference from 30 on up).

I was able to play for 2 hours without it locking up (I logged out after 2 hours, it didn't crash on me).

I know it sounds weird, but it worked for me, not only in this game, but also in The Last Remnant.

    Hope this helps

By the way, I still underclock it a little, just in case (there's something weird with the 9600s... something about a 27 divider instead of 25).
