Default Solutions: Storage or lack thereof

Storage in DDO is a major problem.

Ok so we have to grind for 50 million years to get all the favor to unlock the extra inventory slots and bank slots. Once that's done, you quickly realize that it's still not enough. Especially when you have full character slots and save loot for them or your guild. Storage in DDO is simply inadequate.

Why not allow members to purchase mules and wagons/carts to carry their loot?

Imagine for a second that you could buy 1 mule and if offered perhaps 60 slots of storage.
You could then buy a wagon/cart for the mule, giving an additional 60 slots of storage (or more).
If you hitched two mules together you could have a caravan (200 slots) etc....

You wouldn't need to graphically show the mules or carts in-game, just have them setup/displayed like the backpacks.

While in a quest your mule/cart would be inaccessible, however once done the quest and outside; it would be accessible.

Extra character slot - 595 TPs (less if on sale) - 80 storage slots
    2nd account - FREE - 160 free storage slots
2nd account - premium - $7 (or whatever the cheapest TP package is these days) - 320 storage spots

Endless forum drama because of ridiculously priced (995 TP) new feature - PRICELESS! - 20 storage slots

Truly, having to login and out all the time to keep switching gear and the logistical nightmare of keeping track of everything between characters makes this hardly worth it.

Preferably you could have a solution as i've outlined for each character as opposed to creating a thousand accounts and having to keep track of everything.

I don't don't mean to be a wank, but I would have to disagree with the premise. Storage limitations are necessary to prevent people from hording and help to move equipment back into the economy.

I am as much of a hoarder as anyone, and to a degree I have setup my guys to best allow some level of hoarding, but there has to be a point where enough is enough. I mean, I don't think I have 1 guys (and I have a lot of guys) who actually *uses* all the junk he carries. Even in my bank slots, I could delete 75% of the stuff with almost no downside. Most of the excess is "just in case" stuff.

Now, junk you need to collect for quest purposes is another story. But that shouldn't be handled by general capactiy increase, but by specialized containers.

Grind? I find I've got 150 coin lord favor well before I have the plat for a portable hole and the guys fee. House K favor is a bit harder but it's certainly not a grind. A grind is running the same thing over and over and over with very little if anything at all to show for it. See Shroud, Weapons Shipment, Eye of the Titan, Reavers Reach, and Epic content for more info.

As for your suggestion I'll merely tell you what I do. I have a 2nd account on which I've purchased a TP bundle. With those points, I've purchased character slots as well as some content. When I pull something I want to keep, I throw it on the current mule and note that in a google docs spreadsheet. When that mule is full, I make a new one. No need to organize your mules by weapon type or anything like that. The exception is stuff that stacks like pots and scrolls. Those always go to the same mule.

When I'm playing, I keep two login screens open. If I need something off a mule, I check to see who has it, then log that guy in. I keep them at the marketplace bank so it's easy to either trade or mail the item to who needs it.

The main thing is to be very selective about what you keep. This will make your life a lot easier and your gameplay more enjoyable, as well as giving you more plat in hand.

And if you were wondering about the content I purchased, that's for openers. For quests that are good xp but might have annoying flagging quests (Shadow Crypt, Cursed Crypt) it's nice to have a lowbie opener about.

That should be incentive enough for DDO to implement them!

The issue about more slots is serverspace and growing databases, thats why they don't want too much for it. Instead of adding tons of more slots, requiring tons of more logistics they should change some mechanics to free up space. How about making runes and powercrystalls stackable and all going into the bag? Tamm! Quite some slots free, and even saving server space. How about not giving the player junk items? (e.g. xorian cipher). etc.

I'm a hoarder. I have an alt account with 4 mules somethat have all the storage you can get (was a ViP account until recently, so 5 backpack slots 3 bank) SEVERAL Huge and Large bags on my 20+ active toons. And I still don't have enough room.

    Guess what?

I looked at what I had and decided to have an "auction" in my guild (done with dice roll.) got rid of stiuff that I didn't need.

    Freed alot of space up.

Now looking for someway of tracking what I have.

It IS a pain if you do store gear to use the next 50 million years!

Joke aside, these bag toons are often used only for the gear you have outleveled or can't use yet and want to keep for later use.

If you need a thousand account you have more junk than you need.

And if you can't figure it out, let me help you... many people who keep multiple mules just name them along the lines of:
    weaponmule
    armormule
    lowbiemule
    etc

See, it won't make your little brain hurt trying to remember what is where. If you have more than 1 mules worth of anything, odds are you have more than you need.

Would like to see bags for holding Spell Componenents, possibly Scrolls/Potions.

Find it odd that it takes less time to grab specific arrows from general inventory space than from quiver.

    Default More space

    /signed

More space would be nice. Give us tabbed space in the shared account, I would pay for that. 2-4 tabs of 20-30 spaces each.
