    Default Dwarf Fighter/Paladin/Barb Intimidate Tank

This is my first time ever building a character. I'm not sure how good this build is so any tips/advice would be helpful.

*Edit* I might change my starting +1 cha and just dump it all into Str or con. I'm also thinking about dumping the paladins extra smith/lay on hands or maybe just keep the smite for an extra power attack.

The barbarian is just mainly for rage. I'm not to sure if I'm gimping myself by not dumping the rest of my levels into paladin. I don't know this is a work in progress right now.

    1: Paladins can´t be neutral
2: barbarians can´t corssclass with pallys and vice versa.

Cool thanks for that I wasn't paying to much attention and my character builder doesn't warn me of those errors. *Updated*

You lost me at "Power Critical"

Would you care to explain why? Just saying you lost me at so and so isn't helpful criticism,

If I were you I would seriously consider going human instead of dwarf ... stat points for a Cha for a dwarf is extremely expensive and prevents you from putting more into imp stats like Str and Con.

You really don't have enough HP for end game.

    My 2 cents.

Cool about how much HP would I need end game to be consider a decent tank. Looking over I kind of went crazy on the DPS side and I think I neglected the defense side a bit.

With base CHA 12, you can't even take Divine Might I; I would suggest dump-stating INT & DEX and bumping it to CHA 14.

Half-ranks in a skill do nothing. And Swim is arguably the most useless skill in the game; just hunt for a Waterbreathing item.

Biggest problem IMHO is your build seems a little unfocused: what does Paladin add to your character? Why wait until lvls 18-20 to take your final paladin levels? You say you want an intimitank, yet why did you take Kensai rather than Stalwart Defender?

FYI, a lot of pally Intimitank builds I see go for fighter 2 / paladin 18: i.e., just a fighter splash for tower shields and two extra feats, the rest paladin.

It really depends what you want to be able to intimidate imo. Palys are difficult to make into high end intimitanks. You can get them to a high enough intimidate to lock most things, but getting them to lock the hardest bosses on the highest settings (ie where intimidate is most useful when using an intimitank) they fall a little short.

Palys make much better hate tanks imo due to the divine righteousness clickie.

You also seem to be missing several aspects of ac for this build.

Decide how you want to play, and what content you want to be effective in, and there are several builds out that can help guide you to something viable.

    Default I have tried ...

... many times to make a good intimi build ... and even after playing the game since the very beginning ... I find it difficult.

I would suggest you spend more time learning the game mechanics before you try to build what I consider one of the most difficult/gear dependent builds in the game (intimitank) ... Try a straight dwarf fighter for now ... you will learn the game mechanics and be in a much better position to make informed and experience based decisions.

To answer your question .. .I think at end game a tank should have AT LEAST 600 HP.

    Happy playing ...

Thanks for all the replies. I am new at building toons and looking back I do notice me losing focus when I went from tank to DPS. I'm going to go back to the drawing boards and remake this character build, I'll have an update later on.

What I meant is that Power Critical is a useless feat. You will be a full BAB character, you will have no problem confirming your critical hits. The feat sounds more impressive than it is. It woun't make you crit more often and it won't add damage to your crits.

Also, you say you switched to DPS but you have no Two Handed Fighting feats. You dump dex so it's clear you won't be TWF but with all the feats you get you really need to have the THF line in there (3 feats).

Even most Intimitank builds which have a lot of fighter in them will have 3 feats for DPS mode. Otherwise you are only good for one thing and you can only do that one thing about 10% of the time.
