Default In Store, purchase ability to open quests on normal/elite

I would like to see in the store, a way to purchase the ability to open quests on hard/ elite. I see it as a convenience item like shared banks and veteran status. I would buy it. I think this would make money for Turbine and hope that it wouldn't be too hard to code. I would not want to see devs spending a lot of time on this as I prefer the developement of new content. Would anyone care to comment, either good or bad?

To open on elite you either need to:
    1. do hard
    2. get an opener

    ...not that difficult

It would be a great favor reward (maybe house-specific as to what quests you can skip to elite), though I don't know if it would be worth actual money via the store

My apologies for not being clear. I would like for there to be an option to upgrade so that F2P goes to Hard and VIP goes to elite. That being said, I do agree that it takes away from one of the TOO FEW VIP perks. I would pay money for it, but I fall into the category of extremely casual gamer and I don't mind paying for convenience. I play maybe 2 hours a week. Even though I do not mind running through a quest on hard first, I would prefer to not have to.

Um..im thinking your missing something here.

If you are skilled enough to start on elite...you have been playing a while and have friends and know people so you should be able to get anything opened on elite. And thus is not an issue/

If you are not in the above group...go back and run the quests on normal/hard then elite....we do not need more players at higher levels with no clue. We are full up of people running above their head. Some may think that's cool for those of us having to carry the pile-on's and dead weight....it is not.

Good players dont need an easy button and dont generally ask for them.

Bad players do and expect them...then cant figure out why the suck so much.

Uh - or you could be so overlevel for the quest that it's trivial on Elite, but you don't have an opener available.

A 17th level Cleric (even one run by a terrible player) will stomp the Baudry's chain on any difficulty, it's silly that they need to run it 2-3 times for favor or to have an elite opener that needs to run the quests with them to advance their chain.

I'm actually going to agree with Uska here. If this option existed, paid subs would have exactly 1 perk.....the 500 pts. Everything else can be bought if you grind enough TPs.

Let's not count the logout timer as this is so EASILY bypassed.

1 benefit...and they can't even get that right 100% of the time.

Huh, the OP's extended explanation sounds really smart.

    Purchase First Time Open Benefit:
If you are a premium player you may open a quest that you have not done on hard (normally only normal or casual). If you are a VIP player you may oopen a quest that you have not done on elite (normally only hard, normal, or casual).

Actually, I've reversed slightly. 795 TP for one character on one server. That'll do pig

    True Dat.

As far as I'm concerned anyone should be able to open it on elite first time if you want. What does Turbine or anyone else care that those 1-6 people ran the quest once, twice or thrice? VIP perk - HA! That's a laugh in itself. I was soloing Silver Flame favor all last week to hit 400 and believe me I would have given my left nut to have been able to do them all on Elite straight away. And would I care that some snot nosed ftp nublet could do the same thing if he wanted to? Not one darn bit.

I'd have thought Turbine would like people running unfamiliar content on Elite and burning mana potions, store res cakes and more to beat it (or to die trying).

Why not put some kind of level-dependency in there? If you are high enough that you won't be getting xp, Hard or Elite or whatever unlocks for you.

Haha, I'd never have to group again! I'd also die horribly more often, but that's an unrelated matter.

Thank you to those who were able to better illustrate what I am talking about.+1

I am a numbers guy in truth and it drives me crazy the amount of time I waste running a quest on Hard solo so I can turn around and run it on elite solo. I just feel that there are weekends when my gaming friends are not on and I'm running these lower level quests to get them out of the way, that I could be getting twice as much done.

I guess I could get the same thing out of making a F2p account and run a toon through all the quests and log him in as my own opener whenever I roll a new alt, but as I have stated earlier it is worth the convenience to simply pay turbine so I do not have to do that. Let me put it to you this way, think about how much money you make an hour. Now think of the number of hours you waste running a quests over again just to get the elite. It is worth it to me and probably some but not all others. But then I only get to play maybe an hour or two a week.

That being said, I would hate for them to take a perk away from VIP so new suggestion, let VIP be able to open all quests on all difficulties and F2P be able to buy Hard. *Edited so that it is not one big block of text*

..and yes, as a premium player, i'd be willing to pay for an account option that did this.

Why exactly do VIP people always complain about losing 'perks'? Their biggest perk is that they have everything now, for a low monthly rate, while everyone else has only what they have bought. Its well over a year's sub to make a premium account have most of the features of a VIP account, which is pretty huge. Having another feature be able to be bought just gives Turbine more money from premium players potentially, and doesn't take anything away from VIP. If you are staying VIP just to open quests on hard, then become Premium and spend a couple hundred bucks to unlock everything...

Default How much Dev time would it take?

What about dev time? I do not know enough about the game or programming in general, but if there seems to be a way to adjust what level quests can be opened at, how much coding would be involved in being able to adjust this level through a store purchase? I feel the number one concern for devs should be new content (namely new quests) and would not want this idea worked on to the exclusion of creating new content. Does anyone know enough about the game to discuss the feasability of coding this?

Another option would be to purchase an 'up one difficulty' status for your account. It would allow VIP to open on elite, or Premium/FTP to open on hard.
