has anyone considered this build using long swords with the new feat?

Well, you would loose ALOT of DPS by doing so. Also I should be fair and say to people that consider doing this build.. take a look at my other build The Prodigy instead. It's a spinoff from the Dominator but has adapted to the changes in U5.

If you have a Dominator build then don't worry you will still do top notch damage. Almost equal to the Prodigy build. The difference though is that the Prodigy has ALOT more utility as well in form of AC, spells, all rogue skills at max etc which makes it more appealing if you are going to start a new character.
Pretty redicilus that an update can change the possibilities of characters that much :P I am at least glad it didn't destroy the Dominator build since it stills stays at the top in DPS and I will still use the build alot!
However I feel sorry for all the exploiter builds and pallys out there that suffered quite a bit from U5.
Cheers!

Cannith - Characters: Khierra - Former The Dominator (U7) (TR 12Mnk/7rog/1ftr) now becoming 13 Rogue/6 Monk/ 1 Druid Staff Orc # Tisseltass - The Prodigy (10rgr/2rog/1mnk) # Smallpoxx (14 pure shintao monk, healing amp) # Azatooth (12ftr/5rog/1mnk) # Eleona (15fvs/2mnk) # Heliga Birgitta (7cleric/3monk, Healing Amp)
ok, I might have no clue but I thought all the massive dps came from monk's speed.
I only mentioned long swords because the new feat allows characters with a single monk level to wield them centered.
Doesn't that mean the speed would be the same? Or am I missing something and unarmed uses in fact even higher speeds? (excuse my noobness. been quite a while since I read d20 rules and I am only learning ddo specifics).
thanks for your input and thumbs up for an awesome build.
Long swords are pretty much only useful for vorpaling. Seemed pointless to me since I already have a couple decent kamas for that. Btw, all centered means is that you can use a stance and get its benefits. It will not give unarmed attack speed to long swords.
If you really want, you can drop Luck of Heroes and take Weapon Focus Slashing, and then take Whirling Steel at 18 if you aren't a TR. Personally I just kept Luck of Heroes and took Skill Focus UMD at 18. If I ever get to the point where I don't need the +3 UMD, I will drop it and take a second Toughness feat instead, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime remotely soon.
Edit: Khierra, can you post the numbers you get for each of the three scenarios in U5 with both builds? I'm coming up with 474/377/294 for Dominator in U5 (using 48 str) but I feel like I've left something out, and I'm curious exactly how much better your new build has potential to be. I'm definitely sticking with Dominator myself, but I have a friend looking for a good melee build to play with my new warchanter.

Hey Janez!
No need to excuse for being new to the game.. We all are in the beginning
Well by going Longswords (Whirling Steel Feat) you will get the speed from the windstance. However unarmed attacks have a higher baseattack speed then any other weapon in the game, and that speed you will still be lacking with Longswords. And any build with some kind of sneak attack damage makes huge benefits from having a fast attackspeed. That fact also improves the dominator build as well as the Prodigy I just made today.
I hope this helps out with your questions

As I promised here are the calculations with 48 str (remember that these number are a bit different from the 55 max str the build can get):
The Dominator
Scenario 1 (0 Fort, 0 DR, 0 Resist): 505,41
Scenario 2 (50 Fort, 15 DR, 20 Resist): 319,65
Scenario 3 (100 Fort, 30 DR, 30 Resist): 165,14
Average: 330,07
Scenario 4 (0 Fort, 0 DR, 0 Resist): 505,41
Scenario 5 (50 Fort, 0 DR, 20 Resist): 377,12
Scenario 6 (100 Fort, 0 DR, 30 Resist): 280,08
Average: 387,54
