Very nice work thinking outside the box with unarmed attack speed and bonus layering.
Very clever.

I appreciate your kind words, sir! It's words like these that makes it worth the effort to post a build on the forum
I assume I am an addict to find new approaches... currently unarmed has been my flavor of the month (and most likely the most unexplored when it comes to other classes then monks)

Yes that is correct.. from that I benefit 2 more damage each hit... not that much BUT still a difference And all the small extra damages adds on in the long run.
But even with those the difference will be quite large anyway... about 10 less dps according to the DPS Sheet.

This was exactly what I was looking for.
I am new to D&D, and pretty much to MMos, i've only been in MMOs no more then 2 years, mosty in WOW, (Oh, oh,) its almost a bad word in D&D.
But one of the most exciting thing for me was researching and trying hard hitting specs. I fnd D&D quite exceptional in this respect. There's so much to work with and explore.
Anyway ive spent the last 2 weeks, which is how long ive been playing D&D, looking for a hard hitting character, and after trying 6 different characters and searching the forums, I definitely feel i've found it, not only because of the consistant damage dealing results youve gotten, stats to vindicate it, but also the scrutiny that it has received and passed.
Thank very much Khierra, i have a new hero in MMO and you have a new fan.
So maybe I am missing something but is not this an unarmed character with only 1 monk level? Your attack speed is kind of meh. Why not just pick up any old weapon set and go twf and respec for that? A couple of heavy picks would be great especially on epic. 12 fighter 7 rogue 1 monk is actually a good build which I have thought of making and in fact I posted a build which used warhammers and had a very high stunning blow that would do more dps then using handwraps. I can post a link if I can find it.
Norg Fighter12/Paladin6/Monk2, Jacquiej Cleric18/Monk1/Wiz1, Rabiez Bard16/Ranger3/Cleric1, Hangover Bard L20, Boomsticks Fighter12/Monk 6/Druid 2, Grumblegut Ranger8/Paladin6/Monk6, Rabidly Rogue L20, Furiously Rogue10/Monk6/Paladin4, Snowcones Cleric 12/Ranger 6/Monk 2, Norge Barbarian 12/FVS4/Rogue4. Guild:Prophets of The New Republic Khyber.
Intuatively I'd say the same, however he did make all the DPS calculations telling this build to be far superior to anything seen so far. Not being a math guru myself I've just to believe in that, unless one of these gets to confirm or counter this.
I believe the reason is, the melee feats you get with the fighter levels outperform the progression you would get on additional monk levels.

Khierrra, What would you suggest for a new D&D player, 2 year familiarity with somewhat similar MMO. Would it work to start out with this build, Or would it be better to start out with a basic character and then re-encarnate into it?
And if its fine, as long as one is willing to do ones homework and do the grinding, are those specs on your original post, upto date? If not what changes should I make to them?
Thank you very much in advance for the help.
Hey GeorgeA!
I am glad you caught some interest in my build. I hope you will be equally satisfied with it as I am I am looking forward to hear your input while you are lvling up
Well I don't think it's a super a must to reincarnate to be honest...
You gain 1 extra damage from the passive past life: monk feat and you get your unarmed damage upgraded from 1D6 to 1D8. Then you also have 2 more attribute points to start with, however that's it. So 2 less damage per hit from not being TR and then a bit less hp and fortitude saves
If I would started a 32 point build then I would have taken those 2 extra points of from the CON.
There are indeed some grinding involved to get the gear to maximise your performance... I should though mention that I am still not there myself and still I enjoy very good dps already. So my impression sofar is that the build already feels very solid and still I know I have more goodies to come.. (I am lvl 16 holding on 17 a little bit to maximise the xp gain from the quests I am doing). These goodies are: kensai II, warforged power attack III, weapon specialization II, Tharne's googles, ToD rings all these add's up to more DPS and I am already thinking I am dealing out very nice DPS already
I want to point out though that this build is NOT an optimal solo build at all.. It's not a high AC character and therefor I will take damage. I am nor a low AC build either so I will take less damage then a barbarian.
Also want to point out by being a halfling you get more damage, but give away warforged immunities and hp. This is more a matter of what kind of race you prefer most.
I hope this helps you!
Best Regards!

Hey Matt!
Nice to you see you in this thread!
Well the way you are thinking was exactly how I thought too... but after I had lvled up my Monkster build I though well **** there must be someway to improve that build as well (which I actually think is a very nice build too).
That ended up with the dominator build.
I have done calculations with khopeshes instead of being unarmed and that does indeed give lower DPS. (566 DPS with Khopeshes(halfling) compared to 639my unarmed (halfling version), except that it's GS Khopeshes instead of HW's)
Yes, being one monk lvl seems unlogical.. I do agree... still this 1 lvl gives me 10% attack speed with unarmed. Unarmed does have high base attack speed from the start as well.
Then one of the most important thing regarding unarmed that many seems to underestimate is the fact that your offhand damage exactly the same as your primary.
Finally another thing to think about is that each hit you do with the unarmed does holy, holy burst, shocking burst, icy burst and greater bane/pure good damage. That's between 7D6-9D6 damage per hit unless crits which obviously are more.
Also these factors together adds up and makes the unarmed damage alot better then you might think.
I hope this explains more of why unarmed are not that bad as the first impressions might be.
Best Regards!

So if I made a female adaptation of the Dominator... what to call it?
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

Ty very much for the reply.
Its kinda funny, becuase i used to hate PVE, didnt like to group, only for PVP, but so far, grouping in D&D has been lots of fun and i am looking for a character just like this, build to do maximum damage in a group and not loose DPS to have other solo abilities. So am liking the idea of have a very good character that has lots of improvements, already lined up, so i wont mind the grind.
I want to start building this character right away, just one last thing i need to verify, the specs you laid out on your original post, do i follow that exactly, or are there some updates that need to be done to it? The reason i ask this is because i read through the hold thread and it seemed that there where somethings you wanted to twink a little or add.

Well you can follow the spec as it is, since I have changed the things I talked about in the early threads. So I skipped rogue assassin I and increased the maintained DPS instead.
The only thing you will have to skip is the past life feats for monk and change the attributes to the amount of points you have.
Goodluck to you and please keep me informed on how you like the progress. Also one recommendation... it's the last day today so hurry and buy yourself some cheap handwraps and then add frost on them. That will help you ALOT with the dps and lvling up in the beginning.
Best Regards!
