    Default Melee Wizard

What class works best to multi with wizard to enable said wizard to be decent in melee?

I'm looking at Wiz12/Melee8 or Wiz17/Melee3 (or something similar, depending upon the class, of course).

    Paladin? Fighter? Rogue?

12 Wizard is a GOod breakpoint if your going to focus on Melee, l7/8/9 spells are mostly offensive. Most buffs are l6 and lower.

If you still want to cast offensively, l17/3x is beter.

What class works "Best"? depends on the player. I've seen excellent 6Ranger or 6Fighter with 2 Monk or Rogue.... I've also seen Terrible players with those combo's though.......

IMO, melee wizards are 90% player, 10% build.

Bard. I'd suggest 20 levels of it.

    What Impaqt said.

Gemstone is a 12 Wiz melee build - limited to damage/buffs/self-healing, but IMO excellant DPS. He's fun and simple to play, yet he has some interesting capabilities (ranged combat and sneaking).

Precious is a 17 Wiz melee build - has full range of casting, but barely adequate DPS. He's fun and challenging to play, as he's capable of more than his operator can handle most times. Let's just say it's a constant learning experience with him.

The difference between the 2 is more in how much work I want to do while playing them.

There's a good % of equipment in there as well. Maybe 70% player 20% equipment 10% build.

The choice of splashes will dictate how you deal melee damage

With Rog splashes I like to hit more often to maximize SA (assuming there is another tank getting aggro first) and so use TWF. (this works especially well for halfling, elf and drow races)

There are many good race enhancement reasons to be THF on a WF battle wizard especially if you are still hitting with PA turned on.

And a variety of other multiclassed toons without vowels thnk/r/s/rbll/sgmp
