Wrap questions

Ok, I picked up a couple wraps yesterday and I need a little advice with them.

The first pair I picked up from the AH and I couldn’t resist because they had a low buyout. The are +4 vicious wraps of GLOB. Now I made the mistake a couple weeks ago of getting all “weak in the knees” over a pair of +1 para wraps of GEOB only to find they are only marginally better than my Devout wraps. I am thinking these should do much better against bosses because they are +4 and so they should be +8 against lawful outsiders. I’m also wondering if the bosses will soak most if not all of the 2d6 vicious damage. If they end up soaking that, I guess I’ll need to weigh the +8 mod against the 1d3 damage I’ll be taking per attack.

- Does anyone else use vicious wraps? How do you like them?
- Do you think this pair will be significantly better against end bosses (Shroud, ToD, VoD) than my Devouts?
- Will the end bosses soak through damage resistance the vicious damage?


The second pair I picked up as an end reward from the ToD. +3 Anarchic wraps of 5% weighted (ml 18). Ironically, this run I scored my 9th trophy thanks to Pannzy from Sarlona for hooking me up for which I will forever be thankful. After the run, but before I picked up my end reward I was worried because my current weighted wraps (+2 holy, icy burst of %5 weighted) have holy and I don’t know if the holy from the wraps will stack with the holy burst I’ll be putting on my ring. So my questions arising from that:

- Does the holy from the wraps stack with the holy burst from a ToD ring?
- Seeing as the holy wraps of weighted have the icy burst recipe on them, are they better than the anarchic of weighted anyhow? (assuming lawful enemies)

I rarely use vicious, and when I do, I use fist of light to offset the damage taken.

I am still trying to farm those metalline PG in shadow crypt for bosses.

12 runs so far - nada.

Vicious works on everything--no soaking. DR only cares about physical done, not anything typed differently.

They'll be better than Devouts vs Pit Fiends and Horned Devils on Normal 100% of the time. Might be iffy on hard/elite. One thing worth noting is that it might not be great at the end of ToD since most other DPSers aren't taking damage, so healers aren't throwing out as many masses, if any. Same thing in VoD too really. So...just be aware of when you should use them and how friendly your healers are.

Holy stacks with holy burst.

Your holy + icy burst of 5% are going to be better than anarchic of weighted 5%. Holy damage = anarchic damage in most cases, with holy being more useful overall. The icy burst is just the clincher.

yes the holy on your wraps (lucky son of a ....) stacks with your holyburst on your ring ..

Thanks for the info guys(+). I am determined not to bind any more wraps until I'm sure they are keepers. I need a mule just to store extra wraps and my bank is already overflowing with ones I probably shouldn't have bound (so I could put rits on them).

the real question is how many seeker of vertigo handwraps have to be randomly generated before I can get a set of metalline (g)eob as a quest reward from level 19 quests?

I'm starting to despair.

Aside from 2 really nice wraps I've pulled from ToD (+1 Fire Burst of 5% and +3 anarchic of 5%), I have pulled better wraps from IQ quests than anywhere else (as end rewards of course).

Good luck with that. It's what we all want and what none of us have. I think I saw one person with some metalline of lawful outsider bane (not greater) once. I was insanely jealous.

Semi off-topic, but my guildy has a pair of +3 Metalline wraps of Greater Evil Outsider Bane. Level 20, no RR. Lucky bastard got it from the egg run turn in.

Oddly the best pulls I've gotten have been from hound and VoD end rewards. IQ hasn't given me much for wraps, but lots of vorpals. Metalline wraps for whatever reason I've gotten almost exclusively from shavarath.
