    Thumbs down bye DDO

goodbye everyone. i once loved DDO. but now i realize that it was only a love for D&D.

i looked at the offer wall before seeing Gols post of what it did. you gave away my personal informational over an unsecured Chanel. my spam filter will have some work cut out for it in the future.

i haven't been playing for a while because my computer recently broke, and i was planing on going VIP when i came back. but not anymore.

so bye. maybe i will come back after Turbine shuts down this free points thing and gives out a public apology or something.

you probably lost several customers and potential customers with this thing. smooth

A violation of customer trust is a hard thing to repair... I can't blame you.

It's really sad to see such a good comrade leaving. Adios comrade jcTharin, it's such a shame that the company stooped this low. Like you, I will not be going back to VIP, but I will keep checking the forums to see what happens.

Damm hope you dont quit the forums. I was looking forward to running with you (love your posts) was hoping you were half as funny in a group.

That being said anyone who is old enough to own a credit card should have known better than look at something like the offer wall. The first thing I did when I herd it was comming was told my kids if they looked at it I was dropping there accounts and they could get there own.

I disagree - not obvious that simply checking out the wall would grab personal information. Clicking through on the offers - yes should know better.

Yeah but the real issue is that Turbine would violate our trust by exposing us to such a thing. It's very disturbing that they would get in bed with such sleazy people and definatly puts a very bad blemish on the Turbine brand.

Yep all who quoted me are right. Wish what I said came out the way I ment it. What I ment was we should be able to see things like this comming, however I would have not thought just reading the wall would do it I thought shurly you would get a promp before anything happened.
As for trusting Turbine LOL I have a seperate CC i keep with a 500$ limit for all internet transactions I figure If I cant afford to loose 500$ I cant aford to waste time playing.

This is just... sad. A nice finishing touch at the end of one-sided communication period. (sarcasm)

no i will not quit the forums. i look at this site as much as some people look at facebook.

i probably will come back. but not until after they get rid of the offer wall and give public apology to everyone who just looked at the wall and got their email stolen. i just checked my spam folder and it is FLOODED. but i have been using gmail and i have yet to see any spam get to my inbox.

common turbine. i know that your a business and that you need to make money, but you need to keep your customers happy.

like my business teacher always told me. "a happy customer is an unpaid employee"

I was reading the FAQ on Tolero's link post and saw this:

    Q. What about my personal information? Is it safe?

    My emphasis is the red/underlined/italicized....
    A. We do not share any personal information with the offer vendor other than an anonymous unique ID and an e-mail address for your receipt to be sent to. This information is not transmitted unless you participate in the offer wall system. You may be (and probably will be) asked to provide additional information to complete an offer. Turbine has no way to control what happens with that information or how it is handled. We recommend that you use your discretion when signing up for offers. As always, protecting your privacy requires vigilance.
All I can say is; looks like analysis was made, and calculations were viewed as appropriate for the gain they stand to aquire.
