Default Can I do this? Elven Tempest & AA

As stated above. I just need to know if I CAN do it. THe planner doesn't have Elven AA listed, so I wonder if it is possible.

No, AA counts as a ranger PRE, even if you take the elf version.

Presumably, other racial PRE's such as dwarven defender, juggernaut and scorpion wraith will work the same way when they are implemented.

I've been trying to make a ranger for years. Being a straight AA bothers me and Tempest istoo good to waste. I was trying to get the best of both worlds. Alas, not so.

What about AA bothers you? It is viable these days. Still could use a upgrade but I think the PrE is fine, it is range that needs another 10% or so.

The ONLY thing I dislike about it is you get all the haste lumped in at the end and only if pure ranger. The difference between a level 20 AA ranger and levels 1-19 AA ranger is huge because of this.

I think they needed to bump ranged haste at 1, 6, 12, 18 like a monk gets theirs so multiclassing is still viable, and AA sees returns throughout their leveling and not just lumped on at the end. This would also make it so AA didnt NEED to be ranger to see the haste bumps.

With Zen Archery, the goddess could even have an elf cleric AA - as this feat adds your WIS mod in for "to hit" instead of using dex.

    Dwarven defender will be awesome.

To be fair, AA Kensai is not only a viable alternative to a ranger AA, but I believe it even out damages the AA ranger, at the cost of some utility of course. I think the capstone is fine, it is there to give players a reason to go pure. If anything, I think ranged combat for everyone else should be sped up at least a little so it is somewhat viable, no need for elaborate haste boosts at certain levels.

Also, the bow strength feat makes mention of zen archery.

I don't know if it is just there because it was cut and paste from somewhere or it is implying that zen archery is planned to be in the game, but I hope it is the latter.

I find the lower lvl AA enhancements to be underwhelming. And haven't gotten a pure Rgr high enough to take the Slayer Arrow enhancement yet.

One thing I thought of was going Tempest at lvl 6 and maybe changing to AA when I get high enough to get the Slayer Arrows.

it's not really the best of both worlds, but it's something to consider.

Bear in mind that even if Zen Archery does get added, some of the bow feats have DEX pre-reqs, the highest being DEX 19 for Improved Precise Shot.
