Lose armour and shield (obvious, but just to be certain).
Get the best bracers you can find, farming the new quests for bracers and sigils seems the best way presently.
Get the best Dex and Wis item you can find.
Get the best Protection item, unless you use shield of faith.
Get an Invulnerability robe, just about becoming useless at your level though.
Get the best Fortification item available, crits can be messy.

Almost forgot, if you want better advice please show your build (or post the name and server to myDDO it).

In addition to the above, use +3 barkskin potions and shield wands (if you took UMD) or shield clickys, that alone would add +7 AC. Though shield clickys are annoyingly short duration (1 minute), it's good for bosses or hard hitting mobs where you want to get missed a bit more.

The only alternative to the above advice is to look through this build which I think gets a good mix without gimping the caster side (imho the important part), but it depends what you want to get from your build (melee/caster/AC-caster, it's best to decide at pre-roll to have a goal to work to).

    1st:
Dont try to be centered at all costs.
Unless you have a really high DEX + WIS, its often better to stick with armor + shield. The advantage of the robe-armor wearers kicks i at level 14+ roughly, below that metal-armor is superior.

Cast Shield of Faith, cast Recitation, drink a Potion of Barkskin.

Get the highest +large Shield you can get out of the AH, wear the highest +Mithril Fullplate you can get (or a Breastplate if this will be too expensive for you)
Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzassassin (just passing through - ignore me) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)
