You can always make up your own PD guild and say death is death no matter when, where or how it happens.

But even the PD guilds across the servers differentiate in what constitutes death or not.

I could be wrong but I think Mortal Voyage have the toughest rules to date. So its really funny you picked on one of their members.... oh and the leader... sheez.

Anyways, back when PvP first came out there was a debate in the Sublime (the only major active PD guild at the time). Do we count PvP deaths or don't we? Some wanted to stick to the principle that a death is a death. Everyone realized that if we did, there would be no point in participating in PvP as death is a matter of course. Others thought PvP was an entertaining diversion, so a compromise was made to allow people to have a bit of fun by not counting PvP deaths, hence the generally accepted practice amongst PD guilds that continues to this day.

I myself have never participated with PD characters outside of deathmatch within guild precisely because of the potential for griefing and misunderstanding. A pity we couldn't have forseen the ultimate consequences .. my guess is very few people will do it outside of guild from now on.

When I logged on today, everyone in the guild had full groups going except a couple lowbies. My character had just dinged eleven recently so I visited the trainer, set up some new spells and headed off to the PvP area to kill some time and try some new spells. I suck at PvP. I've never had a character past level 13 and I know jack about the gear all the level 20's are using. But it's still fun to jump in there evey once in a while and mix it up. I get a kick out of getting a few kills here and there. It's fun to try and figure out a strategy that works against all you putzes.

As far as the conversation goes. It was a mistell. My brother was sending me tells asking how it was I could score so many hot chicks when all I do is play DDO. I meant to type:

Yea I see PvP as a good test place for your build.

There is no possible way you could say a PvP death was a true death, or you are right no PDr would set foot in the place as their are too many random nut jobs that get off on bringing in their LVL 20 characters to kill all the lowbies and feel powerful coz they dont get that rush facing a real opponent in a quest and pulling it off.

PD is about player skill within a given environment, why we also dont count public event deaths either.

PD is a test of player skill - teamwork, and a way to make the game as real as possible - period. Its a game of getting you character to the highest level while still chances/risks e.g Elite giant cave looting in Threnal - LVL 8-9, nekkid LVL 2 WW's run, LVL 10 Vale Looting.

Im proud to have gotten my Thief Acrobat all the way to LVL 17 sadly fallen to the Demon Queen.

Id like to see more ppl give it a try, its so **** addictive especially all the players that are signing out for good very sad to watch so many great players leave the game....

Not enough low level quests around to even consider PD a decent way to play the game. Can only run Waterworks so many times before its not fun, its not a challenge. Solo'd that **** on elite with 0 deaths at level 4.

And then you have the issue most PD now face, you miss out on the new higher level content like Amrath and the shroud.

Id like to see more ppl give it a try, its so **** addictive especially all the players that are signing out for good very sad to watch so many great players leave the game....

Did he accidentally target himself with an extended "Pompus Ass" spell? I thought that buff was removed on death?
