I dident mean to imply that I was good or had to do a lot of healing (think I only used 75 charges) just that he wasent needed on this quest and on very few before the vale and that mabey we should rethink the advice we give new players especily clerics about how important they are.
I got a couple level 17 clerics and a level 10 I love playing them just always keep in mind that we are a team the quest isnot about me.

It just sounds more like you ran into a jerk of a cleric moreso than anything else. It happens, I've got a couple of melee's on a different account that I run to see the other side of things. And yes, there are jerky clerics out there. But this seems to jive with the number of other classes that run by jerky players.
Were I in your position, I likely would have bid them adieu and good luck.
A good healer does increase quest efficiency ... when you have to stop to heal up after battle instead of moving onto the next then it is wasting buffs and DPS in quest time...
Come end-game (Raids, Epic) etc... it is the healing, buffing and support which make the difference... The healer is like that of the drummer in the band... a good healer keeps the beat for the melee to pound the boss by.

That's not nice of them... hope I rectified someones mean streak.
... and no while I understand what you're tellin' I clearly state a run in with a selfish cleric be no different then a run in with a selfish rogue, barb, bard... just because someone stands behind a - I'm a healer do as I say eejit attitude - fact be had he been on any class he's be an arse all the same.

Yes I agree 100% with your comments and a lot of others also. What I am trying to say is lets quit encoraging this I am better than anyone else yall need me not the other way around attitude.
Several of the threads I have read lately have multiple posts in them encouaging just such behavior.

I + ya out of principle what your saying was right Prissy clerics suck and good parties can get threw most content with out them and believe me though they havent gotten it down yet im pretty sure there will be a time even epic is done sans healer. It just takes time and strategy.

If a group thinks they "need" a healer for 6-man content, excluding epics, then they need to rethink how they play the game.
And if a cleric or favored soul thinks they're a "healer", and doesn't try to contribute to the party in any other way, then they're dead weight.
I fixed that for you.
In raids it is necessary to have a dedicated healer, but not in quests.
I also dont think the example the OP posted is related to clerics or healers at all. Anyone playing any class could have stated they were going to leave if you werent going to accomodate them getting chests.
Its possible that some people feel like they can be a jerk more on healers though because it is so darn easy to get into a group with one, even if they are not completely necessary.
What gets me was someone put in party chat that we would get the chest for him from the back side later in the quest( Think we had 3 in there that knew the quest pretty good) Guess he just wanted us to kill 10 min while he jumped at a ledge 28 point healbots are not built to make.

Simply because a couple of people can slap eachother on the back enough times on this site to gain the ability to troll neg rep on people who dont have enough slaps on the back to do the same, over some pathetic disagreement that neither one of them are right on due to it being a matter of opinion anyhow.

I imagine one could conceivably climb a mountain using toothpicks for pitons but is that an efficent/productive way to go about it?
Sure, you >can< run pretty much any quest in the game without a dedicated healer. But is THAT an efficient/productive way to go about it?
Yeah if you know what your doing, dedicated healers are only needed for those who never learned how to play with strategy. I keep seeing at what level "healers" are supposedly needed and think I know groups who do that area without them. They use strategy via weapons or spells and go without a healer and use ways to heal themselves.
There have been plenty of all X raids without healers and all healer raids without other classes just to show that with strategy and skill anyone can do such. If you limit your play to needing someone else to keep you up then I really feel bad for you. Hence why on both sides there is this annoying tendency to think healers are gods gift to the game. In reality by high levels most healers are comfortable in any role but know they do not always have to babysit and are happy to run with those who do not put them in that position. I hope one day everyone who thinks they need a healer goes threw quests they think are impossible without one.
It will change your gameplay for the better IMO.

I've out healed clerics with my bard so they are not gods.. and by no means is a cleric needed for everything if the group is well prepared and knows what they are doing
But the WoW rejects think that's all we are is heal-bots.
I've actually been kicked from a party on my FvS because I "wasn't healing enough."
You're still alive, aren't you?
So I went solo for a while and then formed my own group, BYOH.
The fact of the matter is that most healers worth their weight do the same: either solo or form their own groups. Most healers worth their weight don't request to join parties looking for only Cl & FvS because they don't want to play babysitter.
We all carry weapons and we all have spells besides Cures. Some of us actually know how to use these things too.
Got one experience with that kind of healer.. i was using my 2nd version of my trap pally.. a cleric joins up, everything went fine until we come across that chest.. he keeps on falling trying to get the chest.. he was ranting that we must lend him jump pots which our ranger party mate happily told him to skip it and we can come back to that same chest on the other side..
cleric keeps on ranting and complaining that he failed to get his loots (on the group, only the dwarf barbarian got the chest loot on a dare if he can make it). we are able to finally get the chest and the cleric take his loots and rants that if we allow him to get the "first" chest, he may be able to get a nice item from it. at this point the barbarian told him that as a proof that it was the same chest.. it was open when we enter the locked door and he cant loot anymore..
end of story.. the cleric told us that the barbarian was rich enough that he don't need the 2nd chest loots then drop. we continue the chain replacing the cleric with another class, a Brazilian to be exact which only understand 2 words "stop" and "wait" using a range ranger.. the run went smoother and faster after that making us hit the first ransack warning on that same day and got us 3-4levels![]()
