LF Arcane archer build

So hey. I'm interested in this whole arcane archer thing(Played a hunter in WoW, but this game is so much more fun )
I saw impaqts build, but it was way to tome heavy for me. I do have 32-point build and WF. I heard 20 ranger is good because of the capstone enhancement. I tried something myself in the character builder, but that propably sucks

P.s: Oh and what's the deal wit deepwood sniper? It sounds kinda sucky or am i missing something?

No, you're right, Deepwood Sniper is sucky. :-)

A pure elf ranger is the obvious choice for an AA, for the elf DEX & longbow bonuses. Sirea posted one recently: she used a few tomes, but only the WIS boost is actually necessary; and you can get around it by either starting with base WIS 14 or equipping a suitable item. A WF ranger AA gives up the longbow & DEX bonuses for extra survivability: not a bad tradeoff.

yea but if you go elf you will get all your AA pre's 2 lvl's later, human and halfling aren't also bad choices either.

But to prevent that you can just take the Arcane archer prestige enhancement instead of the elf one

Only the Turbine devs know; and if they have plans to de-gimp DWS, I haven't read `em. :-)

A pure elf ranger would presumably take AA from the ranger line not the elf line so they could get it at the same time as any other race. Really any race can make a decent AA ranger; elves are just the default choice for the DEX & longbow bonuses.

I would go 20 ranger or 1bard/1ranger/18 fighter. Personally I think 20 ranger gives you the best overall character.

Whatever build you choose keep in mind that even as a ranged character you will be meleeing.

the barb can fit every needed ranged feat in and can still use a twohander (falchion preferred as elf) for melee
youll have a few less glancing blows, but meh who cares

In my perfect world...ya right....I would like to have:

Improved crit slash and ranged
toughness
either 2HF or 2WF, and improved and greater
weapon specialization

point blank shot
rapid shot
quick draw (a stretch)
shot on the run (for soloing it does help)
many shot
bow strength


dodge for fun

tough to get for a barb....but as you said who cares, swing a big stick around its got to hit something.
