Game Start Issues.

Ok, I just reinstalled the game and updated it and whatnot, I login, choose my server, then hit play, After that the screen flashes a little then returns to my desktop like nothing ever happened.
I am running Windows Vista. Anyone have any sort of clue on how to fix this problem so I can continue playing?

Hi, I'm having the same problem.
I have Vista too and after selecting the server, the screen goes black with a little flashing and the game closes itself aaaaaaaand nothing happens, and if I unistall the tdm like someone suggested in other posts, it doesn't work either

Count me in also.

This is a new install for windows7. 64 bit. I installed it yesterday to the boot drive, then whenever I tried to start I got a 201 error "Cant open data files. Check that they exist and you have permission to write to them".

I uninstalled, and reinstalled onto my non boot drive. Now, I fire it up, log in, select world, get a blacked out window, then the screen goes black (like its time to see the splash screen with the redhead). Then the client shuts down.

Is there a log file somewhere I can look at to get an idea what is happening?

OK, found a solution.

I uninstalled everything, DDO and the turbine downloader.

I then reinstalled, but not from the downloader, I selected "Full Game - High Resolution"

I did the steps from there. It worked fine.

Well I finally got the problem fixed. Here's what I did:
1.Made A DDO Shortcut To My Desktop(I didn't already have one.)
2.Right Click>Properties
3.Compatability
4.Show Settings For All Users
5.Very Bottom There Will Be A Box That Says "Run This Program As An Administrator", CHECK IT.
6.Save It(Apply Or Whatev.)
7.Uninstall
8.Re-Install
9.Start Game
10. ENJOY!

Remember this a fix for Windows Vista, For Windows 7 Users, or XP, I have no clue. Sorry I Couldn't Help.

Hi im using windows vista ultimate edition... I followed the steps but nothing happened i tried to run DDO but it keeps telling me launcher error pls help.... i even changed it to windows xp sp 2 compatibility and run as administrator

Hey Jolvido, this thread isn't about a launch ****ing up, this is for the screen flashing black after launching then closing. Try posting your own thread or search the forums for someone else who has posted the question and see if they have gotten a solution.
