So what did we all think of the new episode?

You know I did not think I was going to like him, but I felt the same way when Eccleston regenerated into Tennent, and when Baker regenerated into Davidson. I just hope he gets rid of his catch phrase though

Since I'm in the US and it doesn't premier here for a few weeks I believe I'm going to have to make like the new content and be a zombie pirate. Arggg...

“If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking till you do succeed.”
I think its like the 17th when it airs over here in the US. But its well worth a watch.

I rather enjoyed it, the new Doctor seems likeable and his companion is nice to look at which never hurts
I am afraid of what's to come however. We've all seen the clips/previews/commercials and there is one scene where the Doctor shoots a gun. I fear the new writing staff will take the Doctor where he's not supposed to go.
I hope I'm wrong.

A forum post should be like a skirt - long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.
Britches and Hose kidnapped my dog and are forcing him to farm Shroud ingredients.
Maybe it's because I've always been slightly more impartial to women who are slightly more aggresive, but I like the New Who so far.
Absolutely loved the music used when The Doctor finally became whole near the end. I've replayed that so much I bet the BBC are hating me for killing part of their Iplayer bandwidth. :P

I don't know why guns are suddenly a no no for the Doctor. The Doctor has used a gun before, in several incarnations, including Doctor 10, and right back to the first doctor. And didn't one of the doctors in the 70s or 80s use a funny looking laser gun? And he's used cyanide gas to poison people (now that's cruel). And the old Doctors worked with units and they always had guns and I don't recall him being troubled by that until Doctor 10.
As a long time Dr Who fan who started watching in 74 I must say i think the new Doc will be great. If he uses a gun I am sure it will be relevant to the story and a lot better than the sixth Doctor pushing harmless guards into acid baths
So the beast below, saturdays episode what did we think of that? It seems we have some traits left over from the other doctors (when he launched into Amy about what she did). And again Moffet gave us clues to the "Big Bad" of this season. Its going to be an intresting 11 more weeks thats for sure.

last saturdays episode was excellent from start to end. Smith is settling into the role very well and we seem to have a new catchphrase " Geronimo."
Can't wait for the return of the Daleks, esp as Mark Gatiss has scripted it.
Just saw the 11th hour over the weekend...
A few moments felt like "The Doctor" but I don't really like him so far... Then again, it generally takes a few episodes for a new Doctor to grow on you.
I DETEST the new Tardis controls. It's like the did their best to be stupid. I mean the controls are always deliberately odd, but they went odd over the top.
I like the new companion, both her attitude and the backstory they gave her (her parents obviously dying suddenly, neglected by Aunt, 'abandoned' by the Doctor, etc). She has promise, I hope she sticks around for a while.
This Doctor seems to have come to grips with Who he is. Being happy that he doesn't even have an aunt seems to indicate that he settled off his feeling about the time war and how it ended. Recognizing he needs a companion and the throw back line to when the last Doctor was talking to himself would seem to indicate that he has gotten his emotions back under control.
Some really good lines. We see some of the last doctor in him when he calls back the aliens and theatens them (same as the last doc did but this time without Torchwood interfering). Loved the swimmingpool being in the library and later hearing that "it will turn up". "That must be some scarey crack" was just perfect. Loved that that new doc is now snapping his fingers to open the door, they having forgotten everything from the last series
As much as I enjoy the traditional enemies, I was a bit disappointed to see the Cybermen and Daleks in the season preview. We have seen quite a lot of them lately and we have seen the Doctor "wipe them out" repeatedly over the past few years. Enough already, give them a break for a bit and give us new and original stories.
We clearly were given the mainplot for the season with the crack. I look forward to that story line since it appears new.

Even in the special that aired before 11th hour, they said the Doctor abhores weapons. David Tennant reaffirmed that. He is NOT a Pascifist by any means. He's like me: I'd rather not use weapons unless I have no choice, but that doesn't mean I will not find another way to get my point accross (HINT: Hate guns love swords. Have a sharpened one near my bed in the case of intruders)
He doesn't NEED one, he IS one.
Regardless, I think the gun was a tool, not being used as a GUN per se.
We will see if I am right.

Was unimpressed with the dalek episode (in the main. Bits of it were brilliant). <snip to prevent spoilers for the rest of you>.
